Yea I've seen it. And meh whatever he'll get over it eventually it's just steel lol.

I don't know I remembered last time we ran PE we just turned off after the waterfall, I didn't know it went all the way up so I just followed Tommy. I saw that dude was broke at the top so I guess I just stayed and helped people get unstuck and tuned someones CB, haha. Oh well it'll be there next time, maybe I won't be a web wheeler then

Gonna take a new Jeeper out to Inscription Canyon in the Black Canyon Wilderness north of Barstow Saturday afternoon if any one wants to join! Cool petroglyphs out there, easy laid back run.

As is, due to some morning obligations I'm looking at hitting dirt at 3pm. Off the trail by nightfall. Of course, afterwards I wouldn't be opposed to a night run through Phillip's Loop or something ... since Calico is right there

Speaking of that route, we are getting 4 Polaris RZRs at Outdoor rec on base and we will be doing tours through these areas for the soldiers here on base. Pretty excited to get paid to play in the desert.

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience or feedback for the San Gabriel Canyon OHV area? I wanted to take a day trip off-roading without having to go too far from Venice. Would this be a good place to go to or are there other better places around?
I can't go too far so anything within about two hours of Venice is about my cutoff point.
I'm new to the area and really don't know the good local trails. Thanks in advance!

That canyon, Azusa as they call it, is mostly for mudders. They did build a practice track up there last year. A good place to go is Hungry Valley State Vehicle Recreation Area which is just north of Pyramid Lake off of I5.

San Gabriel Canyon OHV is known more as a mud boggers play area as mentioned above... Not really much for a Jeep to have fun on but if you just want to get the jeep dirty and see other throttle junkies break their rigs then San Gabriel OHV is the place... You can always try checking out Rowher Flats OHV or Hungry Halley OHV they feature more trail riding or you can drive to Cleghorn Ridge trail now that features a little bit of different terrain with lots of optional fun offshoots

I haven't been up pipes canyon since they gated it back in the 80's.

Is the gate open or do you have another access?

No the tree huggers still have the gate closed off ... The only way in and out now is from 1N01 near Onyx Peak ... Sweet ride though ... Start around 9000 feet and ends up under 6000 ... Nice switchbacks and awesome views ... Ran into the guys who adopted the trail last time I went ... They said the tree huggers were trying to shut down the entire trail

So that's off the 38 right? I have an idea where that is at. I'll put it on the todo list.

Yup off of the 38, just south of Heartbreak Ridge. 1N01 is the trail. It's an easy trail, just really cool. The club (Freelanders 4x4 Club) that sponsors it does a really good job maintaining the trail. There is a pit toilet and a campground at the bottom of it. I've got tracks for it if you want:

I've done heartbreak a few times. I typically come from pioneer town. I'd need to figure out my dang gps.... It's a Gaia with the dual electronics gps chip.

I don't think I have ever been there. I have to look it up. It would be nice to have a place close like that to do some local wheeling.
