If we don't come down until Saturday morning will we be able to get a spot for the
RV? There's a chance we won't be able to leave until early Saturday, I don't know for sure yet.

Heads up and info for emma wood state beach

Hey everybody!

Here's the deal for everyone coming to my "Recovery celebration, but still can't wheel party" at the beach

Day use is $10 fee and overnight camping is $30 fee. There's going to be tons of open spaces so you don't have to worry about finding a space. There's a lot of spaces that don't have the wall in front of them.. so pick one with no wall. That way, you don't have to stand up to see the ocean. There's fire pits already made at each site. No camping for anyone without an RV b/c there's no facilities.

So if you want to come out for the day or camp, there will be tons of room!

Bernie, Rich and Lisa..just let me know if you're coming Friday or Saturday ..if you're coming Saturday morning, I'll get there early and pick the spots for us...not sure who else is planning on coming from out of town...there may be a couple more. I'll get in touch with them. The rest of us are locals. I live 5 minutes away

Tow or not to Tow...

Vanessa works on Friday, so, I will pick her up in Diamond Bar no later than 5:30--that's when she gets off work. We would prefer to get there Friday and be able to sleep-in Saturday morning, and wait for the crew to get in that morning. Lorie, being that you live so close, perhaps we could call you when we get there and we could hang out that Friday evening, what do you think?

Will we need to take a tow vehicle? Not sure if the plan is to go out somewhere and if we did, would it be walking distance or not. It would be so much easier to not have to tow the Jeep.

Ok, so if you want to come Friday, and you don't want to tow, there is a place you can safely park your RV and walk to my place and downtown. Once at Emma Wood, it's really too far to walk.. probably at least 3 miles. If you guys want to come in Friday, I will meet you somewhere easy; like the Chevron on the corner of Seaward and Harbor blvd. You can get gas and just follow me. The address for that Chevron is 920 S. Seaward Ave, Ventura, CA 93001. (805) 642-9138. It's right off the fwy and very easy access...and big enough with enough room for you to drive your RV around with no problems.

So, if you decide not to tow..it's all beach for a few miles in both directions...I've walked it from my house to where you'll be camped but it's not just a few blocks..it's a few miles.

So, towing or no?

I was wondering about the towing also, I think it depends on if we head down Friday or Sat. It's only two hours, I can even follow Mike in the Jeep if necessary. We don't have the tow bar set up yet to tow the Jeep behind the MH. That's on the to-do list

If I have Caleb that weekend we will probably just come down Sat. morning, if not it's a better chance we will be down Friday night. So many if's......sorry to be undecided, I don't like being that way.

Tsk tsk tsk....You RV people ..so undecided I think George may come too Bernie..and a couple others from out of town..

No worries Lisa..when you get it figured out, just let us know so we can hook up either at camp or downtown. I live midtown and if we aren't at camp, that's where we'll be..only a few miles down the road.

Mike just informed me of a meeting he possibly cannot get out of from 8-12 on Sat. He's President of our local Rotary club and they have a mid-term meeting that's mandatory.

I'm coming no matter what, I may just drive down for the day in the Jeep. I'm a big girl and have no problems going on my own. I'll just leave early AM and head home later that night. I also told him he could drive down after his meeting in the RV and then stay the night.

Even more indecision to throw in the mix To say I'm a little pissed about this is an understatement, I'm so sick of the Rotary commitments!!

Well, I've decided on towing the Jeep based on what Lorie explained. We both like the idea of getting there Fri. and relaxing till Sunday when we come back home. No early wake up or 2 hour drive Saturday morning for us.

I totally understand the time commitments on those group business meetings. I was a member of several for years as I was trying to grow my personal training business. They are demanding, that's for sure. Being that it's the new year, Mike's chances of getting out of it are probably slim to none..unless he was "really sick" Bummer if he can't make it. We were looking forward to meeting him. Maybe you can twist his arm into coming after the meeting Either way, you have my number and it's going to be awesome to see you and Caleb and Cleo!

OK! Sounds good. You know where Seaward is right? Let's meet there Friday when you come. We'll go to Emma together and pick out an awesome spot for everyone! That'll make it easier for the others coming from out of town as I can text them our site number.

Cool! We'll talk about a time for you to show up at my place when I see you this weekend to paint my Jeep.

Well of course we want you there as early as possible I always need help causing mischief!

Looks like so far we have:

Bernie and Vanessa, you and Jess, Rich and family, Brandon and Brittany, Dwight and Lynda, Lisa (Lab Lover) and Mike hopefully by the afternoon, and George (Geocash). I hope I'm not forgetting anyone..I need to make a list. Anyone else who wants to come is welcome!

I still need to confirm Lorenzo and girlfriend, Lisa and Ross (my friends who took care of me after surgery), JP (bestest buddy), Bob (my neighbor), Dan (I Wanna), Chip & Brian, Scottie (Kaisertod) and Carl (made one of my Calico runs).

Bernie and V will be getting here around 8pm on Friday Jan 11th . The plan is to go to Emma Wood and stake out the sites we want for Saturday.

We shall BBQ, play and be merry! Do we want to make a list of what people want to bring?

That's a good idea, if we're bbqing and everyone is okay with it I will bring some Elk steaks to throw on. We can just slice it up for an appetizer if we want. I can make a side or something too, just let me know.

If the weather is a bit chilly, I may get a big thing of Pismo clam chowder to bring down. I'm sure I can talk someone into heating it up in their RV if I don't have mine

Couldn't be the whoo hoo's up the rock waterfalls or anythng? Hey, we're wheelin' and I don't feel the need to hold back

Everyone- the best sites at Emma are 25-60 and 70-90. 70-90 is at the end. I'm thinking the end spots would be awesome for our "quiet crowd" Nobody was down on that end today when I was scoping it out. I think we'd have that section to ourselves. All of those sites I mentioned are the best. No wall. You can sit in your chair and see miles of ocean and the islands...dolphins swimming, sealions, birds and the best sunsets. Steps from the sand. It's going to be killer you guys!

And again, just a reminder..bring a bundle of wood. Camping over night is $30. Day visit is $10. They say no tent camping, but I would think it's OK if you tell the ranger you sleep inside the RV. They just dont want anyone using the bushes...and you really can't there. There's nowhere to walk to and hide. There are out houses when you enter right past the ranger shack.

If you need directions, let me know!
