BBQ is a party! Good news- No rain! And probably around 60. It shows sunny, so maybe it'll inch up to mid 60's. Bring warm clothes..gets a little chilly on the beach after the sun goes down. I need to grab some wood sometime this week..if everyone can bring a little, we'll be set!

Lori, are you camping out for the night there? I'm considering staying Sat. night if I don't have Caleb. I can just sleep in my Jeep and Leo will keep me warm, he's camped out with me plenty.

I hadn't really decided..Depended on how much I drank, how cold it was and who else was planning on it besides Bernie and Vanessa. There's technically no tent camping so when the rangers come, we need to tell him we use the RV's facilities. There's out houses at the entrance but we're going to be at the end sites. I see tents next to RV's all the time, so it's not a problem as far as I know. They just dont want you going potty wherever you want..understandably

I won't bother with a tent, do they care if you sleep in your vehicle? I can drive home Sat. night, I just figured it would be easier to just stay. Of course if I have Caleb it's a non-issue, I'll just play it by ear until middle of the week.

I think all they care about is that we use the RV for personal needs...so if we stay and they come -a knockin in the morning, we just tell them we have access to the RV. I didn't want to be the only one camped out while B & V were in the RV...so if you stay, I'll stay. You can just let me know later...There's others that are supposed to be coming with RV's, and I would assume they'd stay too...I need to touch base with some people and get their definite game plans. I'll do that mid week. Dwight and Lynda and George have RV's. Chip too..Rich is just coming for the day..there's others..don't know if the locals are planning on staying..I'll find out this week about everyone.

As of now our plan is for Vanessa to ask to leave from work at about 2 on Friday afternoon. If that happens we estimate to arrive at Emma Woods from Diamond Bar between 5 and 5:30.

Awesome! Am I meeting you at the Chevron? I think we should take up sites 80 something through 90. They're at the end. We can be as obnoxious there as we want

Yes, the Chevron will work for us. Vanessa will call you when we get within about 30 minutes to the station.

Hey gang, many if not most of you have met Dave.

Well Monday (the 14th) he turns 17. Debbie and I were planning on bringing a birthday cake Saturday and plates and forks etc and hoping we could all sing Happy Birthday to Dave.

I think that's cool, I will sing.....not too loudly as to frighten anyone

Lori, do you know what exit I take headed South off 101?

I don't remember exactly what the sign says. Going north, we have a State Beach sign. You should see the same coming south. You'll be driving along side the water for a couple miles before coming up on the Emma Wood sign, and then you'll see the ranger shack. I can always take a cruise and look

Looks like a gorgeous sunny day for Saturday. ..which is good b/c it's not going to get really warm. We'll see 60. So bring blankets/jackets and wood. Be chilly when the sun goes down.

I'll go take a cruise..waiting for the laundry mat to open anyways. And for my friends coming from the LA area, I'll get the exact exit number off the 101 for you as well. The directions on the Emma Wood State Beach website are a bit vague and confusing even to me. But then, I am the one who gets lost in a brown paper bag One of these days, I'll break down and invest in a GPS...and then I'll be challenged on trying to figure it out...like Bernie

For my friends coming from the South- take exit #72 off the 101 in Ventura. You'll go under the fwy and then up and over a bridge. Right after that, you'll see the Emma Wood Beach sign. Hang a left. Go a hundred yards and you'll hit the ranger shack who then will proceed to take some money. The rangers are there from dawn to dusk. $10 day pass, $30 for overnight. Anyone not in an RV and staying the night needs to tell the rangers we're with people in the RV's. Tell them your family. I'm gona And you'll are anyways

Lisa- what a jacked up way for you guys coming from the north. If it were me, I'd take the Main street exit, hang a left at the stop sign and get right back on the freeway. Go a mile and take the same directions as above. Exit #72 etc. Otherwise, you will be exiting miles before you need to and then go through all kinds of different state parks/beaches. It's definitely not a user friendly entrance coming from the north.

Is Mike coming with you?

It looks like it's just Leo and I. The weather said it will be in the low 20's that night at the coast I think I'll head home for the night, we're supposed to go to brunch Sunday and if I stay I have to be on the road by 8. I'm still undecided, lol.

Do we have a headcount? I'm going to order some clam chowder from the restaurant tomorrow. It looks like it will be a good chowder day, jackets and a nice fire. I'll have Mike put a box of wood in the Jeep for me, he has plenty. I asked him about the Corn hole bean bag game, a friend has them and I will remind him tonight.

Where ya been Gonzo?

It's my back surgery recovery party.

It's basically a reason to get together and BBQ and have fun. I miss my friends as much as I miss wheeling. You and anyone else are invited

Yeah we are 2:50 mins away. What time is everyone showing up. It would be nice but I think that would have to be an overnight trip. Rain check till the summer when the kids leave?

Now you know how I feel everytime I want to go wheeling. 3 and a half hours 1 way. It sucks as a day trip. Too many hours driving and is why I always camp.

I have Vegas in February and Calico in March. April ? TBD But I can guarantee you Something will be brewing...and every month there after.
