So you guys know I put out all the Naval messages..I get "Funnies" or as the Navy calls them Mishaps...some can be lessoned learned in the civilian sector

1. WELCOME TO THE LATEST EDITION OF THE SUMMARY OF MISHAPS,
BROUGHT TO YOU COURTESY OF YOUR LOCAL A.B.C. BOARD.
A. A NAVAL SAFETY CENTER O-6 CONTRIBUTED THE FOLLOWING YARN,
WHICH YOU SHOULD FILE UNDER "HOW TO TELL WHEN YOU'VE HAD
ENOUGH TO DRINK."
HE WAS DOING FUNDRAISING WORK AT A LOCAL CONCERT VENUE ONE
FRIDAY NIGHT, MANNING A STAND AND SELLING 24-OUNCE CANS OF
BEER. VENDORS HAD BEEN DULY TRAINED BY STATE ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGE CONTROL REPS, WHO TOLD THEM TO CARD EVERYONE AND CUT
OFF ANYONE WHO LOOKED LIKE THEY'D HAD TOO MANY.
A COUPLE OF YOUNG SAILORS VISITED A FEW TIMES IN THE COURSE
OF THE CONCERT. "I ESTIMATE THEY HAD AT LEAST FOUR 24-OUNCE
BEERS WHEN THEY CAME UP FOR ROUND 5," MY SOURCE REPORTED. "I
DECIDED THAT THEY DIDN'T NEED ANY MORE AND TOLD THEM THEY WERE
DONE."
ONE OF THE SAILORS POLITELY ASKED HIM WHETHER "HE WAS A
CHIEF OR SOMETHING." HE TOLD THEM HIS RANK. THEY TRIED TO
CONVINCE HIM THAT THEY WERE FINE. THEN ONE OF THEM MADE THE
MISTAKE OF TAKING OFF HIS BALL CAP, REVEALING WHAT MY SOURCE
DESCRIBED AS "A LARGE SEMI-CIRCULAR WOUND WITH ABOUT 25 OR 30
STAPLES."
THIS SPECTACLE, OF COURSE, DEMANDED EXPLANATION, AND THE
SAILOR WAS HAPPY TO COMPLY. HE'D BEEN ON LEAVE IN PENNSYLVANIA
AFTER A LONG DEPLOYMENT AND HAD BEEN QUAFFING A FEW AT A
SMALL, LOCAL BAR. WHEN IT WAS TIME A MAKE A HEAD CALL, HE
OPTED TO AVOID THE INDOOR LINE BY VISITING THE WOODS BORDERING
THE PARKING LOT.
AS HE NEARED THE EDGE OF THE PARKING LOT, HE REACHED FOR
HIS ZIPPER AND SNEEZED. THESE TWO ACTIONS (COMBINED WITH
HOWEVER MANY BEERS HE'D HAD) PROVED DISTRACTING ENOUGH TO MAKE
HIM LOSE HIS BALANCE AND TUMBLE DOWN A PREVIOUSLY UNNOTICED,
STEEP, 20-FOOT, ROCK-COVERED SLOPE. HE CAME TO IN AN
AMBULANCE, EN ROUTE TO AN E.R. WHERE DOCS GAVE HIM THE
AFOREMENTIONED COUPLE DOZEN STAPLES. THE STAFF AT THE BAR HAD
FOUND HIM BECAUSE THE MANAGER OR BARTENDER HAD BEEN KEEPING AN
EYE ON HIM VIA A SECURITY CAMERA.
THIS ENGROSSING YARN, OF COURSE, WAS NOT EXACTLY THE KIND
OF STORY THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE MY O-6 COMRADE TO FORK OVER
ANOTHER COUPLE BEERS. "IT WAS AMUSING TO HEAR THIS DRUNK-AGAIN
YOUNG SAILOR TELL HIS STORY," THE O-6 SAID, "AND EVEN MORE
AMUSING TO SEE HIS FACE WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I WORKED AT THE
SAFETY CENTER AND THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE A GREAT FRIDAY FUNNIES
STORY."
B. A CIVILIAN WAREHOUSE WORKER IN JAPAN WAS PREPARING SOME
PARTS FOR SHIPPING. LOCATE THE PARTS? CHECK. TRANSFER THEM TO
A PUSH CART? CHECK. START TRUNDLING THE CART DOWN AN AISLE?
CHECK.
TO SAVE 10 FEET, HE DECIDED TO TAKE A SHORTCUT TO THE NEXT
AISLE, A DECISION FOR WHICH I AM GOING TO WITHHOLD A CHECK
MARK, SINCE A CHECK MARK MIGHT IMPLY APPROVAL. HIS SHORTCUT
INVOLVED "CRAWLING AND PASSING THROUGH AND UNDER A METAL
RACK."
THIS SWISS-CHEESE HOLE ALIGNED WITH ANOTHER SWISS-CHEESE
HOLE, WHICH WAS THAT, ALTHOUGH HE WORE HIS HARD HAT WHILE
OPERATING A FORKLIFT OR HANDLING HEAVY MATERIALS, HE
CONSIDERED PUSHING A CART "LIGHT WORK" THAT DIDN'T REQUIRE
PPE.
AND AS YOU HAVE NO DOUBT GUESSED, HE BONKED HIS UNPROTECTED
MELON ON THE BOTTOM OF THE METAL RACK, PRODUCING ENOUGH
INJURIES TO KEEP HIM OFF WORK FOR FOUR DAYS.
2. THAT'S ALL FOR THIS WEEK, COMRADES. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT SHORTCUTS ADD RISK. IF THEY DIDN'T,
THEY'D BE PART OF THE STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES. FOR SPUR-
OF-THE-MOMENT DECISIONS AND IMPULSIVE MANEUVERS, YOU NEED MORE
PROTECTIVE GEAR, NOT LESS.//

Well no one would ever know my looking at me but I work out all the time and do a LOT of cardio. I actually look forward to it now. Except earlier this week when I let my ego dictate my workout and hurt myself. All better now.

We were up at 6 AM and didn't get home till almost 1AM, helping my sister-in-law move from Glendora back to Moreno Valley.

Four 20' truck loads and several car loads later--mission accomplished!

Woke up at 10 this morning so incredibly sore and I need/should go into the office and be productive today.

I came in to work today myself. Want to sell one or two more today and tomorrow to pad my check.

Ron and I are alive. :-) have a carnage report and a lot of pics. We ventured off the beaten path .. And that's putting it mildly. When wheeling Lockwood, you have the first offshoot to the left which is yellow jacket... Well, there's another one after that.. We checked it out. That trail is harder than anything out there... Once you wheel past the obvious trail. And gorgeous!! You guys, you must wheel this trail! Here's a couple pics.. Will post more in a bit!

You guys will love e this trail... It's a hidden gem out there. The sign is marked moderate.. And that may be until you hit the picnic tables. Once you go past that, it's a pretty good trail. Even the moderate part of that trail is pretty good. Gotta make a run back in august. You won't be disappointed!

We were still having a blast! We are naming that trail snake River because we kept snaking back and forth across the creek.

Sounds like if it was open all year you would wear a couple of grooves in it. 100 years from now it would look like the Oregon Trail except instead of wagon wheel grooves it would have 12" wide MT grooves.
