Hi all,

My wife and I are driving over to LA for a wedding July 4th weekend and I'm looking for some recommendations of some good, scenic trails to go on while we are in the area. We will be staying at the LA AFB and need a trail / trip that we can do in 1 day.

So far I'm looking at the Rincon to Shortcut trail (Rincon to Shortcut | Pasadena California Off-Road Trails | Trails.com).

Our JK is completely stock (I'll hopefully have a set of Goodyear Duratracs before we go), so I don't want anything really crazy, but I don't mind a slight challenge.

Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Ahhh from there I would go to Cleghorn and run the fire road, its pretty scenic and if you stick to the fire road its an easy trail. Or go up to Big Bear. Be sure to check this forum as you get closer, there may be a group run you could tag along with.

When you get here, the closest to you will be Hungry Valley/Gorman
Go north on the 405 freeway thru the san fernando valey to the I-5 and continue north to Gorman/Hungry Valley. Lots of places to explore, and even an off road course to play on. There is gas, and food just outside the park, and the road back to L.A., is a freeway, and easy to stay on. It is about 50-60 miles to Hungry Valley
