off the 8, head south for about 40 miles to buckman springs rd. get off and go right. go a few miles and you'll see the bronco peak turn off on the right. be sure to not go alone unless your willing to 1.) walk out the way you drove in 2.) come back to a stripped jeep 3.) pay a 4x tow truck a crap load of money 4.) have a death wish when you hurt yourself.
Always nice to get out on a relaxing stroll but be safe 1st.
Also in the opposite direction about 40 miles from the college up the 15 north, exit deer springs rd, go left, 1st stop go right to AM/PM, get a monster and some chips and go out of am/pm, turn right at the st that you came in TO am/pm and go to the dead end. climb the magic dirt hill and go left and your now on the Lawrence Welk trail. once again bring other vehicles esp on this trail. it can get hairy.

ATV Trails, Motorcycle Trails, Motocross Tracks, California and Main Page - Dirtopia, the Off-Road Encyclopedia. You can see if there is anything close on these sites. Riderplanet is geared towards bikes and atvs, but they have some 4x4 parks listed.

navigate to South Bay Rod and Gun Club, instead of turning right into the club, continue forward and you will find hundreds of miles of state owned trails. the only people you will run into are other jeepers, people shooting guns at the makeshift ranges, and border patrol.

Check out Anza Borrego for easy going trails. Took my stock JK Sport and had a blast. Google the mud caves if you wanna throw in a fun hike too. And a word of advice, get gas at the Acorn Casino (right off I-8).
Enter at point A, there's mud to drive through at point B and fun cave hiking (bring flashlight) at point C.
