Truckhaven 4x4 training center

Hello,

I am interested in going to truckhaven next weekend. Most likely it would be Friday or Saturday. Anyone interested? Anyone been there? I may roll through Boerego springs and the take dirt roads into OW but not sure.

Let me know...

Nice. I figure I should be able to do the intermediate trails ok, maybe need a spot or two depending. Gonna roll out and check it out.

Cool. I seem some pics of the easy obstacles. They looked pretty easy.

The intermediates look rough though... Gonna check it out and see how it goes. It looks like that place is open year around? Any fee to get in? It did look like there might be a gate on around it.

go to the s22 side of the fence and theres a big opening to drive in. no fee its open year round. the smaller obstcles are easy. and its fun to mess on the flex test and the big pipes. lemme know if you can make it to the top. but it gets really boring in there. all the fun stuff is in truckhaven.

What do you mean? Isn't called truckhaven? Thought that fences area with all of the obstacles is it?

The large pipes was one obstacle I was going to avoid.

I think y'all will enjoy truck haven, I did even though I really couldn't do any of the fun stuff. With more ground clearance than me, you should be good for most of it.

Wish I would've taken pictures of some of the obstacles, especially the "getting tired." Google images should have some good pics to let you know what you're in for, though.

I went to Truckhaven last New Years. Good times out there.
We went in off of Marina Dr and the 86. Camped there and went offroading right there - phone booth, tether ball, ect...
Then we went over to the 4x4 Training Center off of the 22 (Borrego Salton Sea Way) about 3.1 miles West from the 86.

We had a lot of fun out there last year.

Thanks Ted,
Its actually the SC4x4 group Halloween run this weekend. We are always looking for new meat, I mean "volunteers" to try out new stuff. We dry camp our RVs on the other side of the road from the Truckhaven 4x4 training area about a mile further west down the highway.

Truckhaven is north of the freeway. The obstacle course is south. Its fun to go and watch people try and make it up the pipes tires and long steep dirt hills. Inside truckhaven there is a lot to explore. The arch phonebooth hill. Cj hill. Tetherball hill. And the endless amounts od canyons with old fish bones ans shells in the walls. Ill be out there this weekend. Look for my jeep a coilover white and purple yj and a long travel bronco.

Do you mean the SR22 hwy ?
Does Marina Dr. turn into the SR22 ? or is farther south by the Arco ?
Thanks

Yes...sr-22 is south of Marian dr..
turn at the ARCO...that's sr-22

When you go a few miles west on sr-22 you'll see the "A" in the training area on your left (south side) of the road just past Holly rd....go slow because the road is very hoopty ...lol
If you go a few more miles down the road you'll come to " truckhaven " on your right (north) side of the road....
Hope this answers your question.

I'm sure you'll get tired of the training area rather fast but there's lots of area around it to play on...

Yep, I agree with that 100%. The training area is cool and all but I still say the gorge wheeling out there is more fun. Maybe I didn't like the training area just because they're set up for way more ground clearance than I have, but I had a blast exploring the tectonic gorge

I'm smelling what your stepping in.

The pics of the "easy" look really easy. The pics of the "difficult" look very difficult.

I will be somewhere in the middle. Anyone see a jk go over the large pipes?

Zombie FYI - there is a charity poker run at Truckhaven the next weekend.
Events | Michelle Cares Foundation
Might be more fun than tooling around in the training area.

Nice. That looks cool. May do both. Suicideking is more into the poker stuff. I say that loosely cause he tends to fold frequently. :P
