Here is another map that shows Hwy 38, the trailhead of 2n01 and the trail Jeff had planned for Saturday (Heartbreak Ridge and Pontiac Sluice)

Yup. 2N01 is only a few miles north of where Pipe's Canyon starts at 1N01. If anyone needs GPS location to 2N01 it is 34.207336, -116.737926.

They are much easier than Dishpan and I would think you could make it unlocked without much trouble. There are no real bypasses because there aren't any real tough areas. There are some rocks to get over and depending on clearance you may want some skids etc. We will have plenty of help and many straps if needed. Not a problem.

Ya. Heartbreak/Pontiac is a smooth country drive compared to what we did.

Hey guys I have to back out of Jeff's Birthday Bash that I was really looking forward to. The weekend after Jeff's birthday bash is a big charitable 4x4 fundraiser event (Operation Desert Fun at Truckhaven) that my club is putting on & I spent last weekend at the Offroad Expo collecting donations for it... so my wife wasn't happy with my plans to be gone three weekends in a row. So I'll be attending to my honey-do list this weekend instead of being up there.

Y'all have a great time and be safe.

Jerry

Bummer Jerry. Sorry you won't be making it. Maybe you can splurge on a cabin with heat and plumbing to convince her to join in on the fun. We all would love the woman who puts up with you and your jeep compulsion. Haha.

Jeff-
Nick jr's Birthday party was cancelled last weekend and is rescheduled for this Saturday.
I must reluctantly back out of this run.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Motorhome is @ 90% ready to go, directions are printed, two big batches of Elk chili are made and in the freezer. I'll make the carrot cake tomorrow evening and do a couple last minute things around the house and we will be ready, set, go

I was almost getting over the fact of not being able to go this weekend. You just drove the dagger all the way in with the Elk Chili...

Oh I'm sorry. It will be dinner on Saturday if you change your mind

It's like gold around here right now, Mike didn't go Elk hunting this year so I don't have much left. My Dad is going in November, so it's all on him to replenish my supply.

Not at the campsite, but in Angales Oaks just up the road on the main highway. Same place as cop killer Chris Dorner met his end.

Hey Jeff got a Marine headed for deployment on the 16th who just bought a Jeep. He is interested in your run but worried about the requirements since his is all stock and fresh off the show room floor. Live4rah if you want to PM him.

Got room for one or two more on this run? I'll be heading up there Saturday morning, trying to get one of my buddies to come with, too. Neither of us have cbs, I'm trying to get one cheap this week, though.

Our Marine that is headed out said "I bought an '05 TJ sport with under 50k miles, a 4 inch lift, superchip, smitty built front, rear and rock sliders and 35 inch tires." Sure not what I would have called "STOCK"

If he has recovery points but no CB he is welcome. We can stick him in the middle of the pack somewhere.

Lisa, I'm not sure how much of that chili you have for sharing, or how much Mike will leave behind for us tasters being as scarse as it is, but it sounds to me like a couple of fresh loaves of home-made Corn bread might go nicely with it. I'll look for a recipe and get working on that! (Sorry Nick:-)

I filled two 4 qt. containers, so there should be plenty for anyone interested. Cornbread sounds like an awesome addition, thank you. We can warm it in the motorhome oven if needed

Jeff, I mentioned previously that I am not going to be able to make this run so don't be wondering where I am. I see I am still on the list on the first page.

When are you guys headed up? I threw my Under Armor base layers in the MH. It looks as though it may be a bit on the chilly side both day and night. We may have to consume a little whiskey to keep our core temperature up

Enchiladas and Chili may hit the spot this weekend
