2 separate events (two different people's birthdays). Calico run (Oct 4-6) is staying at Calico. Turdhurdler and crew may include BB into their weekend, since they are already pretty close.

I'd like to take this time to shamelessly promote our (as in my family's) new subwoofer we hope to manufacture for JKs. It will fit into the storage compartment in the rear cargo area.

You can skip to the last page for install pics.
My prototype is in and completely set-up. We need to make a couple of minor changes so another prototype is being worked on. But I'd really like to test this "live" against an Infinity and Alpine system. Even a custom box. If you are so inclined and have either system please let me know. You don't need to want one; we just want to get some honest feedback for video. (Of course there would be "tester" discounts. )
Its one thing to look at a frequency curve; real world Jeepers ears are different.
Rick I know you'll be there- will your sub. be in?

Ok. Clear as mud.

Yes I was referring to Lori's group that has plans to camp on calico. They have started to talk on the thread about Big Bear instead. I guess I got confused when you all were taking about Big Bear too. But it makes a lot of since, if you that close then why not go there on a day run?

All good. I still plan to head out there Saturday (both, 5/12th) and hit the trails!

I've never been to Seven Oaks, and Big Bear only once. How far are the trails we're running Friday from where we are camping? Just curious

It will be a short (20 min) scenic drive on MTN roads to Big Bear. In Big Bear we will run a few trails depending on time. For the return to Seven Oaks, we will be taking trails all the way back to the campgroundJ

Well I'm not on-call that weekend, but it turns out my son will be in town that weekend to help celebrate my other son's birthday. So I'm out, in favor of spending some nice family time. Have fun, and happy birthday in advance!

Looks like I also will not be making it, my dad and I work for MWR here on Fort Irwin and forgot that we would be constructing the haunted house for the base during this time and there is no way in the world our boss would let us have off. Hope you guys have a great time and Happy Birthday to all the birthdays!

Sounds like fun, last time we took a random trail up there we ended up in someones back yard, lol.

Then we ended up at a locked gate right when a ranger went by, Mike told me to play damsel in distress to get them to open it. Would have been fine had it not been a truck full of women, lol. I told them I got us lost and my husband was really pissed, they felt sorry for us and opened the gate.

FYI: We will not be leading on any runs that weekend!!!

I responded in your thread. You can definitely use my Jeep as a tester for aftermarket radios. I'd be interested in purchasing one of the final prototypes if you sell them.

I'm broke because I bought those Shrockworks bumpers (Front and rear) that you linked to in the JB thread. Originally was just going to get the front, but ended up getting the rear with carrier for a steal of a price, so couldn't pass them up.

I'm not camping for this trip though, just going up for Saturday.

I ride these trails on my MTN bike, so I know them fairly well. The way down from Big Bear is an easy trail with GREAT views. This will be a fun run

See ya then Rick- sounds good. We'll catch each other on the trail.
Looking forward to getting up in the mountains. With the weather lately you can actually see the mountains (as opposed to a yellow haze)...calling my name.

I have a couple questions, sorry if they are repetitive or silly

Will we be heading up a grade similar to the back way we went to Big Bear in July? Mike is wondering if we should unload the Jeep as we did for that climb,

Also, are fires permitted and if so are there fire rings? We have a massive wood pile and was going to bundle some up for the trip if allowed. I know with the dry conditions, some areas have banned all campfires.

Last but not least, I'm assuming we're just doing our own dinner Saturday night? I have mentioned previously that I'm making a large Crock Pot of Enchiladas for Friday and Mike requested Chili Verde, so there will also be a Crock Pot of that. Not sure how many will be rolling in, but pretty sure there will be plenty of food to share

Thanks,
Lisa

Just yourself It's nothing fancy, I just wanted to make something easy and I know how hectic it gets trying to get off work and to a destination. It's one less thing people rolling in Friday evening have to worry about.

It's also a chance to make something Mike really likes and not have leftovers for a month, lol.

Thank you

Lisa, it's a climb, but I tow my jk all the way to the camp ground. Just watch the corners going down glass rd, and take them really wide, otherwise, your tow bar wil bend like a pretzel, don't ask me how I know! Driving the jeep up is definitely a good idea if you don't mind.
Seven oaks is a private resort, so fires are permitted all year. Fire rings with grates at all sites. Dinner? Pork rinds and Vienna sausage for me!

Thanks Stan, I'll probably just drive the Jeep up. We will be trailering it so no tow bar, but is the trailer a problem on that road?

Pork rinds, Slim Jims, Tater Tots and Vienna Sausages will be the appetizers at Mikes 50th White Trash birthday bash, lol

OK, I'll tell him to be careful and swing wide!! I'll bundle up some wood from the kids place, trailering the Jeep makes a nice place to haul wood too

In Thailand one of the traditional dinners we had in the Northern part of the Country, Chang Mai, was pork rinds covered in spaghetti sauce and fried chicken. The oddest thing I've ever seen, but actually not bad.

In South Africa one of the traditional meals is Grits with spaghetti sauce, also not too bad. That's sort of Redneck, I can have that at Mikes party too, lol.
