Just throwing this out there to see if anyone would be interested: A tour of a few of the lesser/unknown "secret" places at Salton Sea. This would be an easy ride that any most any 4x4 could do with sand (dunes) and deep/thick mud in some places..
We would go to a few of the spots at Salton Sea that most people have no idea exist:

(no, these are NOT the mudpots located on the road that most people know about)
Below are some photos of the "island", the Navy Base Pier, one of the buildings and one of the ammo bunkers.
