Took a last minute trip out to Cleghorn today with my buddy Alex and his 2012 JKU Rubi. It was our first time on the trail and my first time off roading out of orange county. It looked like they are starting to fence up the side trails ( as I've seen mentioned in other threads) but mostly there were just poles up with no cables so you could still make it through. All in all ended up being a great day of jeepin and I can't wait to get out on a run with everyone.

My favorite trail and right around the corner from my house..
Was it wet? I was going to go up Sunday with another group but it rained here late today/tonight and I can't imagine coming down "the chute" in that mud.. Even some of the regular trail on the 2nd half would be a bit hairy when slick.

You're lucky to have that so close to your house, that was the most fun I've had in my jeep by far. It wasn't bad at all. We were up there from about 10am to 4pm and we had light scattered showers which just left the ground a little soft but not slick at all. We were for sure a little wary due to the ominous storm clouds and not knowing the trail.

I'm not sure how hard or how much it rained since we left.

tkfx, are you meeting with The City Slickers tomorrow?
I was going to go on Sunday, but I dont like that mud.. Going up the obsticals in the mud is fun.. but trying to come down some of them, and just getting down the 2nd half of the trail is a bit too much when going sideways.

On cleghorn now. Most hard obstacles have been closed off. Its really muddy but the MTRs are preforming flawlessly, way better then I expected, no mud slipping. 1 toyota lost a shaft and had to turn back... them yota drivers :D

He didnt completely flop it. Only enough for the motor oil to come out of the air intake. He backed up a little and corrected himself. It happend on the same trail that took us almost 2-3 hours to get through, it was a soupy mud and on top of that it start snowing which turned the muddy soup into a muddy soupy river. It was definatly an interesting day.

I got a 10 second video of the "river" trail as we were getting people unstuck. Ill post it later today or tomorrow morning

So, another trail is being closed and it seems like no one really cares? it didn't take over this thread ? I'm surprised that trail closure is so well accepted. I guess it's a California thing. It's the reason I moved to Nevada, we fight to keep our trails open! I hope I stepped on you peoples toes here and you get pissed at my comments. Instead of flaming me, get pissed at yourself and do something. How many people above me here have went to a BLM meeting? Wrote to a congress person, or made any attempt to stop trail closures. Yeah, I thought so. How about spending some time and money with BRC. For those who don't know what it is, it's Blue Ribbon Coalition. Please see their website and join, I beg you. Also see tread lightly! Again, I hope to piss you people off to the point where you do something besides flame me for my comments.

From what I understand its a temporary closure. They have done it in the past. They close it, let it recover a little and then re-open it. There have been a couple roll overs there recently so it would appear they are going to let the trail recover a little, then reopen it.

Out of all the trails we rode on today, 70% of them had posts set up without wires to block access. Soon it will all be blocked and the only trail left will be the fire road.
