WF Westside M&G: Time to start planning

Well now that it is July, I think it's time to start planning the Fall 2009 M&G. I think we already decided on Johnson Valley as the location and we talked about doing it in November. I'm proposing that we do it the weekend of November 6-8. I think the format of the last one worked pretty well, night run on Friday, big run on Saturday, and pot luck dinner on Saturday night.

So how does this date work for everyone? Also, I'm lookin' for some help planning this one. Anyone care to volunteer to head up the runs?

It's my understanding that Bullfrog is do-able on 31's

Rob and I went out there a couple months ago. There are a lot of places to go with even a stock jeep.

There are also some moderate trails that will need some lift, larger tires etc.

And a few trails where 33's + and a locker or two.

So, I think we will have plenty of area/trails to run.

There is a bunch of stuff to check out and plenty of area to camp. It'll be dry camping though, so everyone will have to pack in what they need (water, etc).

I would love to attend but that weekend does not work for me due to work responsibilities. The weekend before or the two weekends following are open though. Is this weekend set in stone?

If Jeff can't go, I can't go. I'm on Nov 6th strike until this is rectified!

Set in stone? No. But unfortunatly, it is the only weekend I have open in November. We're doing a major software upgrade at work the following two weekends and the one after that is Thanksgiving. The weekend before is Halloween. We could go into December, but it gets pretty cold at night up on the desert that time of year, in fact, we may be pushing it in November.

Sorry Jeff, I was hoping that giving 4 months notice would give people time to rearrange their commitments. If everyone wants to plan a different weekend, it's fine with me.....

No worries Brian. I am given a work schedule a year in advance and recently we had a big meeting about not planning vacation days when you are scheduled to work the weekend. If plans change, I would still love to attend.

I'm hoping to make this run myself, providing I get the Jeep driveable again by then. It got hurt last month a little worse than first thought and I'm still looking to see what is making the ugly drivetrain noises.

Hmmm, a WF run in JV. Now this wouldn't be right if I wasn't there.

Thing is that my club the AZ Rock Rats always do our annual run to JV in November also. We spend 5 days out there every year. So unfortunately if the dates conflict I'll have to stick with the boys here, but hopefully we can start putting together a time frame and make it the same weekend.

I am a new Rubicon owner (stock) and would love to meet others and see what my Jeep can do and what I am willing to allow it to do without killing myself or my Jeep. Please let me know the details and if you need any help.

Thanks!

Looks like I am not going to get a chance to go to one of these again. Found out on Friday that my daughter's t-ball team had no coach. So it was me or no team. Guess i am a t-ball coach now. That should be interesting.

Problem with that - practice on Friday, games on Saturday. There go all my free Saturdays till the end of the year.
