Wheeler crest?

Wondering if anyone has been up to wheeler crest outside bishop lately? We did a hike and fly this weekend and I discovered there is a jeep trail that runs to our launch point. When I looked it up in my guide book it said that most stock suv's won't make it up and that its extremely dangerous and narrow in points. Anyone know the current condition? Think a stock JKU would make it up?

Here is our flight from right off the trail.

That looks like a lot of fun. The trail is called Wheeler Ridge Mine Road and it starts just south of Tom's Place off Rock Creek Road. You need to access it from another dirt road and it is sometimes not so easy to find. I was up there last year and the first part of the journey is quite easy and any stock Jeep can get up there. There is the half way point that starts the actual Wheeler Ridge Road and it is marked with a sign and the trail gets pretty rough from that point on. When you get all the way up on top you can look down on Bishop and the Owens Valley and it is quite an amazing view.

Give us some rides to the top of wheeler ridge and well teach ya!

Thanks 530ktm, Im wondering if we just drive to the bottom of the ridge instead of going up on top. I think the road u turn off of is called sand canyon and it looks like you can drive up to the bottom of the 1000ft hike. Thats better than nothing at least.
