Where to go first in LA?

Have a Wrangler on order, both the wife and I are very excited about it... She's just happy for me for the most part! Haven't had a Jeep since my CJ7 Renegade in high school in late 90's. Jeep should be coming between Mid-Late April.

So where do we go first? I want to take her out the day we get it and really show how beautiful it can be with the top down, and half doors! My first inclination is up the 1 towards Neptune's Net and then back down. Driven that way a million times to go surf at County Line but she hasn't seen that drive too many times, even though she's LA native...

Any better suggestions? Would love to include the ocean as it's just too beautiful to pass up on a sunny day. I see it every day working in Marina Del Rey and still never get enough of it.

Side question... what's the nearest beach we're allowed to "tread lightly" on?

Appreciate the help.

nearest place to play on the sand is pismo dunes... think that would be your best drive along the beach.. start off at pch in santa monica and take the dive all the way along the coast.. that way you still can hit county line surf..

Yeah Pismo I think is the only beach left in Cali you can actually drive out on? From LA your pushin close to a 200mi "cruise" each way.

There's lots of local places to drive around on a nice sunny day, just drive!

Great plan! Get down near the beach and drop the top and take the wife on a beach ride.

If you start in downtown Long Beach, and follow Ocean Ave, you can take that to PCH. Then from there, it's a nice cruise all the way down to San Clemente. Most of that trip is along the water or going through nice towns. Have some lunch and a drink, then head on home.

Sadly we'll be starting by our apartment... which is Downtown. So the first thing we'll see with the top off is... the 10.

We rarely go south of the Marina so Long Beach might be a good idea, see something new for a change. Thanks!

No worries. I do this trip all the time when it warms up. Mesh tops and go doorless, then get a good sound track going.... I prefer 80's

Hold on Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling to tightly to her
you're gonna lose it
you're gonna... lose control

Haha yes!!

Other great topless/doorless Jeep 80's songs are...

Whitesnake - Here I go again (on my own)
Tom Cochrane - Life is a Highway
Dire Straits - Walk of Life

and such.
