It was taken on the steepest uphill @ Cleghorn. Where you have basically a v-notch of hard dirt on each side and you can't reverse down without flipping. You got to keep the skinny down and have momentum to climb all the way up. Without lockers you'll need a lot of momentum and if you have a two door, i can tell you that it gets really scary.

Ugh! Maybe we should have a backup plan in place.

Only place I don't really want to do is Cleghorn. I'm dying to do it again now that I have some protection and ground clearance. However it's the ONLY place I've gone, and twice.

I'll do anything that is somewhat noob friendly.

There's always pilot rock. A friend just did gold mtn last Saturday and said there's snow on the shady back side of the trail. Guess we can wait to see how much they get in the next day or so.

Most of the local trails are elevated, but not 8000 ft like Big Bear, The lowest local trail besides JV (which is certainly an option) Is Pilot Rock. From there you elevate, so it depends on how low it goes. Pilot Rock to Arrowhead puts us at about 6000 ft. Its 28 right now in BB, so any precip will def be snow. I am in no matter what the location, but BB is best in summer...with that said I will defer to the trip planner. What say Rick? One way or the other we take your newb status this weekend!!!!

Hey Bill, I got an idea, let's all meet at my house, hang out in the man cave, start with a bloody Mary, move on to BBQ hot dogs, then have some ice cold brews! We save our tire wear, gas, pinstriping from those pesky bushes, and that unsightly rock rash on the under carriage! We won't even have to go thru the trouble of moving that little lever to 4-low!

Yea so my weather channel app for the ten day report had listed 70% chance at show of accumulation 1 to 3. Now it saw 2 to 4 inches durring the day and 5 to 8 for that wednesday night! Soo wat was only goin to be 1 to 3 now seems like a bigger deal. And side note idk how much this will affect us but they are expecting 50 pluss mph winds! Hopfully doent put any trees in our path. But we still will just have to see wat happens.

Oh okay...sorry I was a bit slow there...Yeah, I heard about the wind too, but that will probably be wherever we go....I would suggest Pilot Rock at this point only because I dont actually know of a trail structure at JV...its a big ass desert with tons of rocks...I just dont know where I would start or stop...

There's always this too: head up hwy 38 to 2NO1, air down, head to heart break ridge, which is mostly in the sun and snow should be minimal, after Pontiac sleuce and heart brake, head down to pioneer town, go to Pappy and Harriet's for some brew n chew, air up and head home. After pioneer town, your in yucca valley and head down hwy 62 to the I-10.

That's not a bad idea at all, it would give us a taste of diffcult & medium at Pontiac and Heartbrake and than easy trails to Pioneer town (which I havent run) That could work...How long would you guess that would take though? It will leave us in Yucca and some of the guys will have a haul to get home?

That's true, I just checked and pioneer town is 55 miles from me here in Yucaipa. So it would be a drive home. From the start to pioneer town, it can be done in 3-4 hours, depending on how many breaks we take.

I would have thought longer on the trail than that...do you know any other off point than Yucca? I am fine w it, but I like you live near by and we would have to add another 1.5 hrs for the OC crowd. Rick hasnt chimed in so I am guessing he is having dinner w his wife I have been married 22 years...so we are home already....

Yup, had valentine's dinner. My wife cooked Rib Eyes and twice baked potatoes. So good!

I'm pretty much fine with whatever. You guys that know the trails figure out what would be best, what I can handle, and won't get snowed out.

It does sound like we missed Big Bear by 1 week. Will have to check it out when the damn snow melts!

Check it out.

Snow or no snow I am down. I just want to video tape everyone having fun with my new HD Camera. It's 2500 dollar camera and I want to get some shots!

I say. . .

We plan on doing Big Bear. And if there is to much snow we head down the hill to apple valley and go run Bullfrog in Johnson Valley.

I can lead us there. I'm familiar with the trail as well.

We're definitely doing something. I've left it in the hands of Bill and Jpi to decide exactly what. The above could be a possibility though.

WE'RE DOING SOMETHING DAMMIT!!
