Back into having a Wrangler

Moved to Vegas from Reno a few years ago but circumstances changed and sold my LJ so stepped away from off roading. Was on JF for some years but found myself just getting into too many arguments, family loss and lost a good friend within a few months of each other so definitely head space issues on my part. Got into the Harley scene here locally and just been doing that since I moved here. Would like to get out off the beaten path again.

Anyways, got a bone stock TJ again and no doubt will build it up as time and money affords but figured I'd post an intro and say hi :wavey:

Experienced most of the trails around Reno and had some really fun adventures up there with the crowd there rock crawling. Still have an account on Reno4x4. After years of off roading in HMWWV's in the Cavalry built my first Wrangler when I lived in AZ. Took an 89 YJ with a 2.5 and over a summer converted it to a 4.0 with an AX-15 out of a 93 YJ donor. Then living up in Portland picked up an LJ and by the time I got into serious rock crawlin in Reno it had a 1" BL and an RE 4.5 long arm with a custom triangulated rear done by T-Fab and running 37"s on beadlocks. Built an XJ and a 06 TJ that were in the family as well. So by no means an expert but definitely well experienced in building Jeeps and taking them rock crawling including learning to trail guide others over obstacles and doing recovery with winches, straps, ropes, chains or anything else we could make work.

Would like to get into seeing the trails and such in the area, expecting with a stock TJ sticking to the bypasses and just being trail support or recovery.

Welcome. I saw your other post about DW and am more or less in same boat. I know several jeepers and up until fairly recently, last 6 months, was out a good deal. I have a little one now and try to stay home more. In the next week or two will be hopefully hunting birds one last time then working on my wife's rav which needs some new bushings.

What part of the valley are you in?

I am also in warmachines :) and a few other clubs both formal and non. We just like to get out. No fees or crap like that. Just good people out and about.

Thanks, Im on the West side of the Valley now moved from Henderson, well GV really, recently. I have heard about WM's a few time and when I first moved here still had my lifted LJ but before I got a chance to get into outings things changed and I sold it.

I think the family oriented groups are fine for the folks into that. I tend to brin beers along, like target shooting, and swear a lot when out in settings like off roading without realizing it. Then when someone is complaining after the run because while I was down in the rocks trying to trail guide someone there kid wanted an up close view and heard the f word a lot I reply back to them with even more offensive comments. :censored:

And that just does not go over well in a family oriented group. I appreciate people want to get their kids into the hobby or have fun adventures so I feel bad when it comes off that way. My experience has been someone usually gets offended trying to mix adult groups and family groups. :beerdrinking:

Figured i'd put a bit of clarification in just in case somebody read into my comments some excessively asshole undertones. I have wheeled with people who had their kids along and they were well behaved and it was a great time for all so not hating on the people with kids. Just had some outings where apparently it was expected to be a PC event and nobody told me and there was a lot of complaints afterwards about me and a few others because of our colorful language. Past events gone bad easily jade ones view which is a bad habit.

On another note I have to behave and keep my stocker pretty much stock until I finish paying extortion money to UNLV and graduate in may but if anyone is going on a mild scenic run and or a hardcore run with lots of bypasses a stocker could follow on I love seeing new areas and I am actually really good about being recovery support. So message if you don't mind a stocker tag along that knows how to stay out of the 4 foot waterfall thinking my baby rig can follow lol. I hate having to be dragged through, its so embarrassing.
