Badlands Winch Coupon

If anybody is interested, I got an email from HF with a coupon for their 12k winch for $299.99. I got the same coupon in the mail a couple of weeks ago and went ahead and bought one. Although I haven't used it for recovery yet, it seems pretty decent. I mounted it using the Rough Country OEM bumper mount. If your interested, send me your email and I'll forward the coupon...

Thats pretty nice. I need one. I seen a winch mounted below the top of our stock bumber somewhere on this forum. Looked really clean.

Just finished this winch mount upside down and inside the stock bumper. HF 12k winch ($299) HF Universal Mounting plate ($39) cut to fit JK frame.
1.) Relocate the vacuum pump.
I used the Quadratec one.

2.) Cut mounting plate to fit frame and fog lights.
3.) Extend wire leads so the control box fits under the hood. See troyboy build.
4.) Cut a hole in your metal and plastic bumpers. See troyboy build.
5.) Drill the frame for new mounting bolts.
6.) Paint and reassemble.

Pros: no welding, fare lead bolts to mount plate with no spacers, control box is up under hood.
Cons: yes it could be submerged, when you go to use it, in this mount location I took that into account.

Its my first mod like this but with this forum and youtube a guy can pretty well work through it in a few evenings.

I picked up the same winch but have mine mounted to a receiver hitch so I can mount front or rear if need be. Will up load photos when complete.
