Calico nov 8 to 10

There is a group of California jeeps doing a calico run the weekend mentioned above. About 6 are doing over night stuff on Friday and sat and about 4 doing a day run with them sat. I thought I would post this up here see if anybody was interested in doing some trails at the old ghost town. I've done some about 10 years ago in my old YJ and would love to do it again. It's about two hour to 3 hour drive from Vegas just past the fruit inspection station. Let me know if any one is interested in going I was thinking of camping sat night I have the small bantam m100 trailer now and can bring any gear for you if you doing have room

Just so you know, I did the same thing on a trip to San Diego and didn't get any responses. You may want to pick out the main person in the thread and PM him direct, you may have better chance of getting a response that way.

That could be a plan. I might join in. Long trip 150 miles to get there. But I am interested. I will make a plan to get ready and stay overnight. Maybe we can get a few more for the trip.

Right now I am in. I am in LA that week and won't be back in town until late Friday. Depending on how things go in LA may force me to change plans, so I will be in touch to let you know if I have to bail or not.

I was just thinking about Calico, does anyone know if you need orange flags over there. I know you need them at State Parks, but I don't know about Calico.

I just checked their .gov site and it doesnt mention orange flags. Also, all the videos of people driving the trails dont have flags. I thought the flags were only for the dunes because of the high speed driving to be more visible. I also read that cabins are $45/night and bunkhouses for 20 people is only $80/night. So if anyone wants to stay overnight, but doesnt want to camp, thats a cheap option.

That is one long day trip I was looking to stay over that night throw the tent down and drink a few beers burn a steak.

Anyone going to hang overnite???

Anyway its 150 miles for me each way and driving that YJ that far plus trails will just suck so I hope the folks we meet up don't mind I think if I go I will camp out for the night.

I looked at the camping in the formal park with showers and bathrooms and all they seem to have is pads for RVs and you need reservations at least 5 days in advance. There is open camping back on the trail.

I am going to try and call and see whats up if we just want to throw down a tent and where they allow that. So hang on still working it.

If I get the days off I would love to join in on the festivities. So is everyone thinking about driving out on the 8th and returning on the 9th?

I think the plan is to leave early on Saturday the 9th. Camping overnight is still up in the air, I wasn't planning on an overnighter but may change my mind depending on the majority of others.

Cool thanks for the reply Ray, I'll just check back in when it gets closer and see what the plan is. Hopefully I don't get stuck at Caesars again and miss another awesome trip!

Panthor98 and I are going to try to travel out at 5 Friday evening. Get a campsite at the ghost town return Sunday noontime.

We are both slow on the hills so it will work fine just have to get past Friday night Vegas traffic.

I will post campsite info and we can work out meetup info for Saturday morning when the rest arrive from Vegas.

If you want to camp out let me know I will pass web info so you can reserve a campsite like $35/ night.
