I think that we can make some plans to show you around a little. How long do you want to be out, and what area of town are you staying in? There are trails all over the area, just depends on how long you want to be out and what you want to see.

Red Rock - Rocky Gap, has a challenging wash out area, better for a lifted jeep. We made it thru with a stock JKU with 32" tires but we rode a few boulders to get thru.

Wheeler Pass - Las Vegas to Pahrump, Makes for a long trail.

Angel Peak near Mt. Charleston- Elevation climb to about 9000' that offers a spectacular view of the Las Vegas Valley on a clear day.

Muddy Mountain near Valley of Fire that goes thru to Lake Meade.

Burro Wash near Boulder City- Nice trail that ends at the Colorado river south of the Hoover Dam. Enter and Exit the same trail.

Joe, any other ideas?

March is a great time to be in Vegas, weather starts warming up a bit, should be getting up in the 70's as long as your not in the mountains.

Send us a reminder as your trip gets closer, so we make some plans.

Hey guys, new to the forum (today) in NW Las Vegas. Is Rocky Gap the same as Potato Patch? Maybe that was not the official name, just slang. I tried it in a Bronco several years ago, but even the CJ that was with me couldn't make it. A boulder slide rendered it useful to only motorcycles. Long reverse to a (fortunate) turn around. Would love to do it again. What I great road from what I did see!

Is it usually snow-free by mid-March? I'd love to try it this year. Hopefully I'll have a Wrangler to take out. If not, do you guys ever get seen in the company of Toyotas? Not really sure I want to subject my wife's GX to that. Thinking good vibes for the right TJ to come along!

one side is potato ridge and the rock garden side is rocky gap, great trail and can be impassible with heavy snow.

You may scrape your skids in a spot or two in the rock garden. We take stockers through all the time.

Thinking the 16th would b the best time. Lives there most of my life but never went where I could legally go. So I'm open for some trails.

I will let you know later in the week. Otherwise there are plenty of other trails to go on.

What part of town are you staying in. (Strip property)?

Great... except for one little thing. We bought a house today in Pahrump and it looks like we can get a quick closing, but Saturday we are having the inspection so we'll catch up another time. Post up some pix of your adventure.
