Devils Peak

Is there any interest in setting up a ride to Devils Peak?

I have heard about this area down by Jean, but I haven't been there yet, and I would like to try to run this trail either this weekend or next.

Let me know if anyone else is interested.

Here is a thread I found with some pictures. It looks pretty fun.

I would be interested but I don't have lockers or a winch. Seems like everything I read recommends lockers for Devils Peak. There is also a couple of tight areas that might be a little to close for comfort. Can anyone provide some insight?

I would definitely tag along, but I work graveyard weekends.

I work weekend nights too so it's definitely hard to get out on the weekend.

I have Tuesdays and Thursdays off, so if anyone wants to go out those days I'm game.

I think that stillcrazydave, and a few others have done that trail before. I was supposed to go with them, but I had technical issues, and I had to head home early.

Someone else told me that it might be a challenging trail, so perhaps I should take my dirt bike out there first and survey it.

Stillcrazydave has done this trail many times without lockers or a winch. If your going to go he would be the one to go with.

Ok I'm back haha! This weekend is jammed up but let's shoot for next Saturday. Maybe super early to kinda beet the heat? It's not a threw trail. There is a pretty gnarly bowl at the end. My friend George has a built Taco and wants to conquer it. He broke last time.

Experience is always good. How is your rig set up? Clearance and rock sliders are a must. Locker is also helpful

I went and checked out the trail this morning. It seems challenging, but possible. Let's see if Dave can be our guide, and show us the line. I was by myself, and didn't have a spotter, so I turned around.

Here is the first obstacle: (from the bottom)

Same, from the top:

I have a 2014 jku, 255's with a 2.5in MC lift. Smittlybilt slider steps.

I went to potato ridge today but couldn't pass through the last obstacle. I was alone and didn't want to risk anything.

Good Choice! It's passable in a stock JKU, but I wouldn't recommend doing it alone for sure. If you pick the wrong line you might end up high centered with no way of getting off without a winch or help!

The Second Obstacle is what I would be most concerned about. I'm not quite ready to ride the body along the wall just yet.

You guys ready to do this!? It's not that bad. People keep stacking rocks so the second obstacle is getting easier.

I'm not going to make it out this weekend. I need to go through the whole suspension remove and lube and torque all control arms. I am getting some clunk noise. Heading to Rubicon next month and have been needing to do this for awhile. Sorry.
