Mormon Wells washed out again

Mormon Wells Road washed out pretty good with those small storms that rolled through last night and earlier today. I did the trail from 93 to 95, which is backwards compared to the normal direction that I have gone. I made it through but I had to actually use 4wd for once. It is almost like the fix that the did after the last wash out actually routed most of the water on the trail, which is causing more damage.

I only took pictures where I had to actually stop and spot a bypass route.

My bypass

I passed the ranger on the way down and he said that he was going to barricade the trail, but it was not closed. He said that the barricades were just to keep some people from getting in over their head on the trail.

Thanks for the heads up, the last fix didn't look very permanent.

It is fully passable Sean, actually more enjoyable. Since I was by myself and the trail was very smooth I was doing between 30-40mph between the camp ground and peakabo canyon. After the visitor center I caught my self doing 70... they must have just leveled everything out. The new visitor center is looking pretty good, I think it is a little big for the location personally.

Wonder if it was the same guy I talked too when it washed out last time. We were beyond the barricades and had a little sit down. Lol. All went well though.

I think that they are hoping that it will create a little more traffic with the new digs. I think that it is supposed to have a museum in it. It also looks like they may start charging an entry fee as well.

I know right!

The last time that I was out there, it looked like they were laying out for a small booth in the middle of the entry into the Visitor Center. It may have been just an island, I don't know why they would put an island without a booth.
