I was listening to the radio today in the jeep while I was taking the hard top off, and when I disconnected the back wire to the windshield washer on the hardtop the speakers got quieter has anybody else experienced this?

I've read about others noticing this, but I couldn't duplicate it on my 2008. What year is yours?

It's a known problem. It is something that Jeep did in their sound systems with the top off to supposedly not disturb other motorists. Here is the thread talking about it and the fixes.
