Think i need a new job

I was thinking of putting my feelers out there and search for a better paying job. The job I have now is very lax with free unsupervised time. However working 7 years as maintenance for apartment complexes with only a 3$ raise in that time is NOT very good. Anyone have any ideas? I was looking at base maintenance but no open positions and I met a guy earlier that used to work for my company. He told me to leave right away and join the union, forgot what union it was though that did maintenance, but of the commercial type. And to add insult to injury my buddy works for Yesco we started out pretty much at the same pay only in 6 years he has managed to almost triple his wage. So I think it's time to look for something new.
