Thumbs up Moving back to Washington (Seattle Area)

Hello!

My wife, kids, and I are moving back to Washington. Currently we are in NorCal, but will be in Washington June 15th. I am looking forward to getting out as soon as possible. Hoping to make new friends and Jeeping buddies as I have done here in NorCal. I will miss the great trails here in Cali, but I am looking forward to getting back "home" and wheeling with great people and friends.

We will be in the Seattle area, looking at houses in Bothell or Kirkland areas, or around there. Hit me up if you get a chance and let's get off road.

Thanks!

Probably more of us from the Vancouver/Portland area but I do see more and more from the Seattle area lately.

I will be more than happy to head to Portland or Vancouver for some offroading. I have some friends in Kalama. I will keep my eyes open for some runs.

There's a few of us on here. Heading to Long Beach today. Playing on the sand for the day.

Are you up here already?

Bob K.

EDIT: I see you are up here on the 15th.

Yep, the 15th. We are at Crater Lake in Oregon right now. We decided to ship my jeep up and drive my wife's "jeep" up. We fly to Alaska (Kenai) on Tuesday the 2nd and will be back the 15th. After that, we just need to settle in and I will be ready to get off road. Looking forward to getting out with you guys.

Here is a quick picture of his and hers.

Are you looking to buy or rent? I am moving very soon to San Diego and our house in Spanaway is up for rent. Nice Gated area.

We can run up to Evans Creek on any given Sunday. That's a great place to get your feet wet doing NW trails.

Folks would argue, but Tahuya is pretty much for motorcycles and 4wd isn't really needed for most of the trails you can take your Jeep on.

Evans Creek is tough on 4 Doors. 2 Doors can make tight turns. The 4 Door makes it a 4 or 6 point turn. I have to armor up before I take mine back out there.

I am use to running the Rubicon, Calico in SoCal, Johnson Valley (King of Hammers area in SoCal) and lots more. This sounds promising.

I wouldn't argue it with you. I take the missus and the kid there often. They are still getting their wheels under them. And as a rule we usually get a few first timers with us as well.

Anybody been to Manastash Ridge lately? I probably haven't been in that area for twenty years but I'd love to go check it out. Last I read Naches pass was impassible due to deep snow. Sounds like a great multi-day summer trip. My jeep (stock 13' JKUR w/2.5" lift and 35" Toyo MTs) isn't really outfitted for anything too serious. That and it's still too new (and the payments are too high) for me to want to take significant risks with it. I think I'm most concerned about bending the C's until I get those gusseted. Probably ought to cut my fenders before those get ripped off. Any advice as far as getting things northwest trail ready?

It is on the list. Along with kaner flats, Funny rocks and moon rocks. So much snow on the mountain, ought to be some good wheelin' when it opens up.

Make sure your bumpstops are long enough to keep your tires out of the fenders. Either that or consider flats. You should be good to go on most trails with no damage.

They've gone through Evans Creek and done away with most of the trees that were catching fenders. There are some twisty trails though, bring your soft top. A few of those trees are still there. My sig shows a short climb on one of the trails.

Great pictures! I am definitely in for a run there. We just landed in Seattle from Anchorage. My jeep gets delivered tomorrow morning. Whoohoo!

Do you guys recommend any offroad vehicle shops? I'd like to have a someone double check my jeep and mods and such before I get off road. Thanks!
