Snoqualmie Snow

I took my two kids up to Snoqualmie Pass, up the Hyak Road. I went there last week with my Subaru and ran into 6 inches of really hard pack snow.

This week, there was an additional 12+ inches of fresh snow on top. Turns out, the Jeep does MUCH better with 15 lbs of air in the 33s, and SUPER MUCH better with 10 lbs. My tires are the Goodyear Duratracs. I read a review about them in 4wheeler magazine that rated them a 4 out of 4 in the snow. I would definitely agree. Went thru the snowmobile tracks like nothing. Point and shoot.

I stopped under the freeway over pass on the way back out to stay out of hte snow while airing back down. Probably 50 cars drove past and ignored my Jeep with the hood up. 2 out of 2 of the Jeeps that drove past stopped to ask if we were alright. One of them even circled back to ask. Good shit.

Good stuff. I love our four seasons here in Washington. Hoping for a lot of snow this year, to do a lot of skiing!

Can you give me directions to getting to where Hyak Road is? I am familiar with Snoqualmie area, we have skied up there several times, but never gone snow wheelin up there. Do they close the roads in the winter for snowmobiles or is it just impassable for the average vehicle? Appreciate any info, wife and kids want to go sledding somewhere this weekend.

The pictures look great! I have the Duratracs as well and couldn't be happier so far. Where are these pics taken? I get Snoqualmie, but was it the forest road mentioned below?

No. Close though. Instead of going straight into the parking lot, you turn right and go parallel to I-90, Easterly. Then it heads up the hill. But this late, they close it off to vehicles and only let snowmobiles up there. Tinkham Road is a good one to go up now that more snow has fallen.
