You're still welcome to the BBQ. I'm thinking it'll be 4 or 5.

I was thinking about going to 3 Rock sometime this week. I know this dosnt sound like a Jeep owner, but I'm a little nervous because I really don't want to break anything (it's my DD) and I'm a newb, have yet to go off road yet.

There are parts of 3 rock that would probably make you nervous, but you don't have to go through them.. id recommend going with someone though, its quite muddy out there and i doubt you'd want to be shoveling yourself out all day if you got stuck, unless of course you have a winch, but even then i'd still go with someone. Have you been to 7 mile yet? i think its a much friendlier place to start out, because you have a ton of options based on your comfort level and what you want to do. its very open compared to 3 rock.. 3 rock has a lot of really tight trails

Thanks for the info! I'm not as nervous about my skill level, more just what my set up can handle since its currently stock. Also nervous about looking stupid when I'm out there. I was only thinking 3 Rock because its pretty close to where I live. I haven't had a chance to go to 7 mile yet. I will try sometime this week, if I have time. Cant wait to get my Jeep off road for the first time!

This is probably a pretty dumb question, but are there any "rules to the road" or off-road as it were? Like courtesy things or anything like that? I just don't want to be in anybodies way or upset anyone when I go out. Thanks again!

I would try Jergens out before 3 Rock if you're worried about your first time out. I'd also recommend it over 7 Mile just 'cause there's lots more to do.

As far as "rules" go- safety first. Don't follow anyone too closely especially going up or down steep climbs/drops. If you don't feel comfortable with an obstacle/challenge don't do it until your confidence has been developed. Lots of people get in trouble attempting challenges they weren't experienced enough for. Trust me, I speak from my own bone-headed experience. Akin to that is as Nick said, never go alone. A winch and lockers may make for a stout Jeep but they won't solve everything. If you found yourself stranded on the mountain alone you'd be in some $#!+.

Thanks for all your help! I've been reading a lot, but guess I just need to pull the trigger and go out. Looking like a pretty nice week weather wise around here.

Ya, but I don't think that incident was your fault. It just happened. I can only recall one other time that I've wanted down off a mountain as bad as I did that night.

Oh, btw... I took delivery of my WRX today. It's parked next to the house.

I wish it did then the shipping company would have to repaint my whole car. The paint is fine... for now. The route to get to work requires that I be on the autobahn for about 10 miles or so. We'll see how the paint holds up.
