I'm building a mall crawler so it will be fine. I don't wheel,... ever. Kidding of course. I guess that means a D80 or a Rockwell if I want to get rough with it. I'm sure I can make a D70 last just fine. Heck, my YJ is a perfect example... I ran 38's on the D30 front and D35 rear with the Chevy 350 under the hood for at least 2 years without one break.

Apples and oranges man. By rights that D35 should of went on day one when trying to turn 38's powered by a built v-8. I'm just saying how the person drives is a huge factor in when and how stuff breaks.

I know and I've seen you offroad, the only thing that kept your rear axle alive in the tj was the shitty motor and small tires lol

What I'm getting at is, why not over build especially in axles if you're going all out on everything else... For that one time you need a little more coal pedal and bam your gears decide to chew through themselves

My 12v has an 80 in it stock.

I hammer on mine, when i get drinking, and thats why its sitting with a broken axle till tomorrow.

Sounds like a fun build, love the torque of a cummins.

It's the fact that there are much better options, so unless someone paid you to take it and it was bolt in I see no reason to run one

The AAM 11.5 is stout. Guys are putting 1500ft lbs + down at the rear wheels on 37's and they just take it. 100% stock rear ends are holding up to 800+ rwhp in 7000-8000 lb pickups. Sled pulling and drag racing with gobs of power with very very few failures. And if you can find someone that's trashed one they probably had well north of the 1000hp 2000ft lbs of torque realm. Yes they have a giant pumpkin.

I like 'em.

A 10.25 is still big for a 38in tire lol. A chevy 60 vs a 14bolt besides ring and pinion size its about a tie. 1.50in axles 60 has a .313 thick tube vs 14bt .250. 60 runs a bigger bearing on the spindle vs the smaller 14bt we see alot of bent spindles on the 14bts at work. At worst im out a set of gears in my 60 thats it

You saw me off-road something I knew didn't have enough power to hurt itself. You never saw me off-road anything else.

And what I'm getting at is I have super human off-roading abilities. I could wheel a jeep with a diesel engine from a freight train sitting on 54" tires and two axles built from legos and still not have a break on the trail. Besides you know I'm not going to under build this thing so...
