Anyone else have to do some last minute repairs in the next two days before the trip?

I need to change my thermostate, temp sensor, and stock up on fluids

Mine still has a broken front shaft so yes.

Speaking of... any of you guys ran tj shafts with the bigger joints? Wondering if they are actually stronger enough to justify the extra cost of going to a real junk yard.

I dont want to have to back off to keep from breaking shafts.

Square, i will bring that other window with me when i come out.

The joints are stronger, not sure how much exactly but you can get the same shafts as a tj out of the 96+ xj I believe

I gotta replace the radiator in my jeep now, not just the thermostat lol

Later xjs had the bigger joints too. Look for ones with 4wheel abs. Ive seen them at pull and save.

Ya, from what i read is all xj's 96 and up and all xj or yj with abs and of course tj's.

Its the same joint as the dana 44 uses so its stronger but the axle itself is obviously still weaker. The stock u joints are crap, im open and breaking them and my buddy has broken 3 in his comanchee.

Yep they are a quick job.

If anyone is looking for waggy springs still there is some 6 packs at valley p&s i am running 6's in the front now and pretty happy with them, just a touch stiffer than 7's.

Good heads up, I might be switching my setup around at some point.. front needs a little stiffness due to weight or the rear needs leafs taken out

It raised mine about an inch over the 7's which was perfect because the v8 dropped it a tad bit more than i wanted.

There also is some 5 packs there too but i havent heard anyone liking those, they look hefty.

I think 6 is the lowest I'd go, but yeah I've seen those 5s, probably would be good for a heavy diesel. They make 2 different pack sizes in the 7 leaf too.. ones a bit thicker and supports a few hundred pounds more

Yep i got the hd 7 in the back with the two smallest leafs removed. In that configuration they are about as stiff as the 6's.

I am.. but its because it's levi.. we call his jeep humpty dumpty for a reason.. he was using a death trap high lift jack to redo his front suspension... in his front yard... which is basically a hill, and the jeep was perpendicular to the slope of the hill... and if you remember the nursery rhyme of humpty dumpty you know what happens next...
