Jeeps have been haunting me out there this week, theres a JK by where we're working, and i saw a muddy blue TJ in the oncoming lane on bong street when I was leaving today
That muddy blue tj was me. lol. You should come do the carpet out here in the dorms, we need it pretty bad.
If you're looking for a jeep and have any questions we can answer them for you. But, I offer one piece of advice for you in your search for a Jeep. don't settle, write down what you want in a jeep (I-6/4cyl, dana 30/35 or dana 44's, hardtop/softop, 5spd/automatic, etc) and stick to that. and be patient. It took me 3 months to find my Jeep, and I found it in a newspaper classified ad of all places. Pray to the Jeep gods and they will reward you

We've done a TON of carpet out there, all of the carpet in the survival school lodging, over the period of 4 years (1 phase per year) All of the air force inn carpet over a few years in phases. Part of the fun center carpet back where the climbing/tubes area for kids is. All of the TLF housing, just in the last few months (some wasnt carpet). I guess they care more about the temporary than the "permanent." Its also managed by someone else I imagine. One of my uncles did the 92nd/141 HQ bldg (not sure how much though) My other uncle (company owner) would jump at a chance to do the dorms though, if it came up.

I do know what I want:
YJ (94/95, prefer 95 for the galvanized body, less rust)
I6
5spd manual
Hard top

BTW, did you see the convoy of pickups leaving? 3500 Ram (Red), Dakota (red) and Mazda b4000 (black) I was in the ram

I can't say I remember that. Just about the only vehicles i pay any attention to on base are Jeeps and Security Forces. If you breathe the wrong way those guys'll get ya, haha so yeah

i fall asleep dreaming of jeep

sad thing is i dont live far at all from the orv park, just hop on francis and drive straight till the turn off. Just a matter now of finding one in my price range. Tax returns are awesome, best part is i only paid $95 in taxes this year..wife didnt pay much more than that. Having a kid and being deployed is paying off lol

Nice! I closed my eyes the other day and saw jeep tail lights. so i understand, it slowly turns into an obsession. I think the best thing I've ever experienced in relation to my jeep was a jealous (now) ex girlfriend telling me that I had to choose between her and the jeep. If you go out in the parking lot I'll garauntee you that my ex isnt standing out there

but yeah man, keep your eyes peeled, and look in small town news papers. my jeeps previous owner was a 65 year old man who bought a jk, and only had it in the paper to shut his wife up. all it said was 1997 Jeep wrangler, 5spd, 87k miles. and a phone number. I bought it 15 minutes after i read that lol

Very nice, im scouring the internet so far. I'd have to get out and go to some smaller towns around here and pick up their paper/classifieds. Where'd you pick yours up? and how much did you get it for if you dont mind my asking. Ive got about 5k to spend so I'm trying to see what i could possibly get. There have been a few in my range Ive wanted but they sold already. Ive found too many 4cyl and people with a lot of parts to go with theirs so they up the price. theres one im eyeing up in colville on craigslist:
1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ, SE Sport, Hardtop, 6 cyl, 5 speed
(too much with it to jack up the price)

Then as i was leaving the base today i found this one:
95 Jeep Wrangler $5500 OBO
(4cyl)

Theres this one too:
http://www.recycler.com/details/-357...-jeep-wrangler
saw it in 3 of the free car classifieds my wife picked up at the store. Soft top but thats not a deal breaker..

I dunno how far down i'd be able to get private party to go, especially when they have put a lot of work into it, love it dearly, or have any sort of emotional attachment to it.

Dealerships however are a different beast when it comes to jeeps i think, no emotional attachment, just dollar signs.. show up and give them a low ball cash offer and they may just jump at it.

I found mine in wichita falls, tx when i was stationed down there, paid 6k for it. I got a hell of a deal. it was pretty awesome. as far as dealerships go, it doesnt hurt to ask right? and if you dont ask then you'll never know. the 94 is a bit pricey, regardless of condition its got a ton of miles imho, the 95 looks nice, but its a 4cyl :/. I've seen a black TJ on hwy2 about a mile before the bridge near I90. havent looked at it though.

As far as private parties go, they always have haggle room, unless you get an extreme douche. and if you seem knowledgeable about jeeps, and the seller isn't a jeep freak as well, then you can make up a bunch of bs in an attempt to make them feel better if you drop their price too much lol

Yeah its the one near longhorn, they always have it sitting out front. Consumer Auto Liquadators had one too, but i would never trust those dirtbags

Lol, i wouldnt either, we were talking about them on the way home. Guy i work with was telling me he went there just to see what they had and they were gonna make him fill out forms to do credit check before they'd even give him prices.. he told them it wasnt worth his time and left.

I've got my mind set on a YJ, dunno why really.. A good friend of mine's father passed away last year when we were at Fort Hunter-Liggett CA for pre-deployment, his step mom was a thunderc*nt and made my friend buy his dads 88 for much more than its worth.. I had a great time going hunting with him in it though, its beat up good but runs like a champ. We did some crazy offroading with it up near Omak (where he lives).. we bottomed out on god knows what and the exhaust disconnected at the header.. sounded badass straight piped!

Post a link or give us some more details, it already sounds pretty good, the 8.8 is a good axle and a common replacement for the weak D35c

Looks like a really clean YJ, I would definitely check it out, with that rear end, gears and posi combo you should be doing pretty good offroad, onroad manners should be decent too since it's not a full fledge locker, also it comes with full hard doors and a hard top which is a really nice option up here lol all in all I would check it out and see if there is anything wrong with it, if not pick it up and enjoy!

well ive got 4 more carfax lookups left, i e-mailed the guy tonight.. if i dont hear back by tomorrow after work i'll call him. only thing is moses lake is a bit of a drive to go and find out something is wrong with it.. doubt there will be.

Im wondering if its in my best interest for bargaining if i dont let him know i'm coming from spokane. Might not be all that bad though, i figure i'll offer 4k if it all checks out and stay firm on it. Gotta pay for TTL and Insurance so i need to have some $$ left over

Hopefully it all works out! Moses lake is a far drive, just make sure to check the frame for repairs or rust and take it for a decent test drive (longer then around the block) and make sure to check the 4x4, YJs have a vacuum disco on the front axle that likes to go out but it's an easy fix if it doesn't work.

Well, we're going to try again late next month for a Compressor run but the weather doesn't look like it is going to cooperate. So we will see what happens.

ahh..

Would any of you be interested in going up to Omak sometime in the next few months? A buddy of mine lives up there and knows hundreds of miles of mountain trails, hes got an 88 wrangler. I'm sure he wouldnt mind being our Indian tour guide lol. If any of you like shooting guns n such we can do that too while we're there. Omak is about a 3 hour drive in north central washington. Plus you'd get to go see grand coulee dam on the way which is pretty cool if you've never seen it. Just trying to see who would be interested in going.

to far for me since I have hundreds of miles of trails here that start in my back yard. actually thousands of miles. I have been wasting gas for 8 years and I might have run 10% of them. But then again I haven't seen much of Washington State.
