Tune-up

I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and trying to find manuals with instructions on tunning up the jeep. It seems none exist but the ones purchased my actual mechanics. Too Expsensive!!

I got this book called Jeep Owner's Bible which contains mostly useless information. But there is a section on Tune-up but not a very clear one like you normally fine in Clinton's manuals and it does not really talk about my jeep as it claims.

So probably will send it back but I need some where to find the specs, tools, and steps for tunning up your jeep.

Thanks

i'm a little fuzzy on new jeeps like yours, is it still a 4.0? and that jeep bible was made in the 80's or 90's. i'm thinking yours is 4.0, and the minivan didn't go in for a nother year or two. and all you need is spark plugs. and i think daimler went to ngk platinum from the good ole champions with that direct ignition. use the plugs that came from the factory, and the gap should be on a tag under the hood, but they don't even do that anymore sometimes, should be .035 though, if you can't find any info, let me know,i can look it up at work on tuesday.

Thanks

thanks for the quick reply

The book is a 3rd edition and says it covers through 2004.

I could not find the info early went back to look again and finally found, in very small print, at the bottom of the sticker that is under the hood close to the windshield.

4.0 and the Gap is 0.35

So all I need to do is verify the gap and put the new plugs in?

No timing to be set or idle speed adjustments?

From the looks of it there is this bar that is bolted in over the plugs that also has a shaft attached to each plug.

I just have to remove that to get access to the plugs

Is there a torch rating for the plugs and this cover?

Thanks, again

yep you got it, that bar is your direct ignition coil bar. replace the plugs, nothing else to do, no adjustments. torque spec should be in a manual, off the top of my head its 25 ft/lbs.
