Where to buy in WA?

Hi,

I'm brand new to the site. I don't own a jeep but am planning to buy sometime this year. Looking to get an Unlimited, hopefully a Rubicon. Any dealerships people have had good experiences with?

I live on the east side of the state, a couple hours northwest of Spokane but am willing to drive statewide to find a good dealership to work with.

Not sure about WA, but I know a trick that works in any dealership.

Walk in and do your thing, find the Jeep you want, sit down and go through the whole sale and get their price. Then pull out a wad of cash and ask how much it'll be if you pay in full right now

Seriously it works my grandmom does that with every car she's owned (about 12) and it really save a couple thousand

Yes, that works great if you can come up with that much cash. I don't see that happening.

If you haven't already pulled the trigger, we just finished running the gauntlet with the Seattle area dealers. Aurora store was pretty sketchy. The guys in Bellevue were our favorite. Very nice, easy to talk to. We ended up buying from Rairdon in Kirkland because they had the one with the right specs, but would not recommend them. The experience was horrible and left my wife in tears. We are still discovering the ways that they screwed us. I joined the forum only after buying, but I will give the forum member Pat@Fieldsjeep (that shows up as a hyperlink, but it's not) a try next time. His prices are great, and he seems to be a real stand-up guy. Get a TreadLightly membership for $60 and he will sell you what you want for 2% under invoice. You can probably have it delivered to you locally.
Good luck!

I have heard good things about Hanah Jeep in Vancouver, Wshington. Might be worth a try?

Actualyy buying with cash does not always equal good deal. A dealer would prefer a loan because: 1. they can sell you extended warranties, gap insurance, undercoating etc and your more likely to purchase these because the cost is not directly out of pocket it is rolled into a payment. Also, they can sell your loan and make a few extra hundred on the sale. So, cash while the best way to buy for you does not mean the best deal for the dealer so he may be less likely to move on price

Sorry I can't offer a positive recommendation, but I can at least suggest that you avoid Tom Matson in Auburn WA. Not a good experience at all.

While I didn't buy from them, Lithia in Renton seemed pretty eager to get my business. Wish I'd gone with them instead.

I have bought 3 vehicles from Tacoma Dodge. My wife's 1 ton ram. My JK. And my daughters 2010 Kia. All in the last year and a half. Bought my liberty from Lithia in Renton and almost ran out of gas on the way home, never again. Price wise, Dave smith in Idaho is supposed to be really good as well.

I had good luck with Town Chrysler in Wenatchee. ButI think techniqueis more important than dealer. I have used consumer reports car service for years. You can print out the dealer cost for the vehicle and all possible options. It even shows holdbacks. It's very accurrate. You walk into any dealership and say "this car will cost you X dollars" "how much do you want to order it?" They will check your facts and generally ask what you want to pay. I generally just say 500$. If their holdback is greater than 500$, you are essentially under invoice! I've had that approach work 3 times, never failed. You do have to order, though (the cars on the lot all have interest, advertising, etc that they need to recoup)

I can 2nd Tacoma Dodge, as long as you know what you want. I took in quotes that I had from 2 other dealers and they beat them both. I already had my own financing, but they did a pretty hard sell on financing through them even though I already had a better rate.

Bruce Titus in Olympia is who I would recommend, I worked with Joe Gieger. I got a pretty good deal, cheaper than Costco or all that other pricing. He was pretty strait forward, as I was with him too. It was a very pleasant purchase experience.

I wouldnt avoid Bruce Titus but would not recommend it. While they are extremely helpful and easy to work with they are a bit overpriced. I went in to buy a 4 door JK and walked out without my wifes VW Beetle and a new Jeep Compass instead.

I bought my TJ from Titus-Will in Lacey. They knew less about jeeps and don't always have one in stock but were alot better on price. I was able to get them down 2k from their asking price (which was already good deal) with cash in hand.

I went to Dave Smith in CDA, ID. Tried dealers in Renton, TriCities, Yakima and Ellensburg and no one would come close to the www.carsdirect.com price that I was trying to get close to. Dave Smith (ask for Rocky) quoted $37K for fully loaded Rubicon Unlimited, which was about 2-3K under everyone else. I waited 6 weeks for manufacturing and you have to drive to ID to pick up. Painless sale, no bargaining, all paperwork waiting for signature. Wife and I were at the dealer a total of 20 minutes, in and out.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Rairdon, I too just bought a 2012 Sahara unlimited from them just this week and it went flawless.

I live in SW WA and shopped dick hannah and TC and only found the color options and tor-soft at Rairdon. I did the online chat with them they emailed me copy of the window sticker and photo of the rig, we negotiated via text, that was awesome! Came to a deal once at the dealer I was in and out in 1 hour with the quoted price and interest rate.

Super easy.

I would stay away from Dick Hannah for buying your Jeep. We went there and they really tried to lowball us on our trade in. The salesman was a bit of a jerk, so we went to Beaverton and our salesman was great. As for buying accessories there, absolutely. The guys in the parts dept. are AWESOME, and the service guys are good too.

Agreed 100%. I have had nothing but trouble with them. Know people who used to be salespeople there and it is endemic in that place. I bought my Ram in Wilsonville OR and I live right near Hannah ... That's how bad they are.

Another vote for Beaverton and NWJeep....I drove down from Seattle to take delivery 2 weeks ago. Did the whole deal over the phone, and spent 15 minutes on the lot from start to finish. It's the only way I'll buy a car...

Steer clear of Tom Matson. Not a good experience at all.

When I ordered my JK, I went through Town and Country Chrysler Dodge Jeep...got an outstanding value for my trade, and negotiated the exact price I wanted before I walked in with no hassle. Definately recommend them if you are in the area.

Surprised at the knocks on Dick Hannah. I got the best price from them and they have been a pleasure to deal with so far (car on order). Beaverton NW Jeep the salesperson assigned knew nothing about Jeeps and pricing was non-competitive. Most dealers in this area seem to have very few Rubicons and not well equipped.

Here's a followup. My Jeep arrived pretty much as predicted by Jeep and quicker than what Hannah said. Delivery was endless paperwork, but no hassles otherwise. My surprise was that when I needed service they were very slow and not very great to work with. So I tried NW Jeep and their service has been fantastic. I had an engine light come on and stopped there. They took me right away while I waited and took care of the problem. Attentive and knowledgeable. Won't be back to Hannah for service.

Thanks for the feedback on the service depts, I have not had to use one yet but it is nice to know where to go if needed.
