recs for Boise-area indie repair shops

My son will be taking our '01 TJ Sahara to BSU starting this fall. Any recommendations on good mechanics for the "non-DIY" stuff that might come up?

As in what? Is he planning on doing suspension upgrades? Or are you thinking more along the lines of just random maintenance issues?

Either way, tell him to steer wide of Bucks 4x4. Their prices are ridiculous!
I've had good service at Walt's auto on Fairview, and Bobbys in Meridian is supposed to be great for tranny problems.
Where's he coming from? Boise's a great area for Jeepers - 1/2 hour north an you're in the Forest mountains, 1/2 hour south and you're in the desert.

He'll do easy maintenance/repairs - oil/fluid/filter/hose changes, battery replace, radiator flush, etc. And small fixes. Getting him up to speed before he leaves.

Its the rest of the stuff that we'll need good mechanic, as he's new to auto maintenance/repair, he'll have limited tools, and no real access to a proper work area.

Thanks for the recs on some shops.

Coming from northern Cal, but he spent senior year at Eagle high school. He loves Boise.

Ah, I see.
Then the places he'd want to keep in mind are Bobbies, Walt's, and Big O Tire at Cole and Fairview. They do good work at that Big O, and are very friendly and honest. I've had them do a wide variety of things in the past, on mine & my son's Tacomas.
Gotta love having good ol' country boys run a shop! They give it to ya straight.
