2011 Mustang defective transmission

Well at least now we know why it's cheaper than the Camaro and Challenger...

Is it just me, or do Mustangs just seem really cheap in comparison to the Camaro or Challenger? The new stitched interior in the Camaro is really nice and you can't argue with the 392 in the Challenger. I would much rather have either than the Mustang.

I've driven a Shelby GT500 on multiple occasions, and have never heard of this problem. I would much rather take a new Mustang over the Challenger or Camaro for a number of reasons, a few being weight & blind spots.

I own a '03 Mach 1 so I am a mustang guy.

The new challengers do drive nice. Roomy interior but they dont handle that great and really aren't that fast. You feel their added weight. I raced a r/t and left it by 2nd gear.

The new camaros have more power but I think their interior is like all gm interiors. Kinda big looking stuff and to me cheap. They don't hook up and as a result don't run well on the 8th mile.

Now the mustang isn't perfect but the coyote is a awesome engine. Little mods and they will run low 8.0's in the quarter.

The tranny issue is a problem but it's a supplier issue they will work through. They have has these issues before and that high a revving engine is super hard on a manual trans. I expect a tsb on them soon.

Low 8s in the quarter with little mods? Not hardly. Maybe the 1/8.

This isn't a problem any worse than the issues GM had with the T56 when they switched it to paper synchros. It's definitely not as bad as the problem Jeep is havning with the new 5 speed auto randomly refusing to move the vehicle. Let's not forget the problem Jeep has/had with the 6 speed jumping out of 1st gear either. These things happen.

As for the Camaro and Challenger, the Camaro is fugly. They really dropped the ball on the styling somewhere in the process of getting from concept to production. It looks like an swolen Sunfire from too many angles. I also have a small issue with any car that requires stick on wheel weights to be added to the brake calipers to keep them from making so much noise you think the wheel is going to fall off. The Challenger is ho hum, but much better than the Charger. The Mustang is the only late model pony car that I have had any interest in at all, and that ended as I crawled out the dealership door LMAO when they told me it would cost me $100k for a Boss 302 last year. All of these cars are made as cheaply as possible because they have to offset the excessive cost of labor and materials somehow. If you think any of them are going to be problem free you are mistaken.

I meant the 1/8 mile. Thanks for catching that.

100k for a boss is steep. I think msrp is around $40k and topping out at like $48k.

The boss was #4 on motor trends top 10 drivers car. It was way cheaper than any other car that made the list. To me that is a big accomplishment.

According to my dealer and some others people I've chatted with around the country 100k isn't that bad. There is no way in hell I'm paying 150% over sticker for anything. Anyone that would pay that for a Mustang doesn't deserve their money anyway.

Was it a 392? Probably not.

My brother has the SRT8 Challenger with the 392 in it. I wouldn't mess with it, as its to fast for me, but I guess that's why I drive a jeep!

I like 2 wheels as they dust things on 4 and not to mention they are cheaper all around.

it's a close call for me between the camaro and mustang. i like the camaro's look. it's just about my favorite looking modern car. it sucks to drive though (i traded my 2010 on my jeep) the mustang rear section really kind of ruins the look of it for me. i don't even buy sports cars based on speed. anything can be modified to go faster. i bought my camaro based on sound and style. i learned my lesson and wouldn't buy any of them now.
