Abbi's 20" Largemouth Bass

The shop was slow this evening so I took my 10 year old daughter Abbi fishing in the pond behind our shop. She is learning to cast and pitch her new spinning rod. I tied a blue and silver Rapala F7 on her 6lb mono. We were standing on one dock and pitching to another dock 50' away. I kept telling her that the closer you get to the dock the better. I tied my Rapala up on the dock and lost the lure. I told her that was too close. She popped her very next cast an inch from the dock and bam! This fish jumped a foot out of the water. She set the hook just like I taught her. Every time I went to open my mouth to correct her she did exactly what she was supposed to do. She worked that fish like a pro. When she got him up to our dock I reached down and pulled him out. He was hooked perfeectly in the corner of his mouth. Pulled the lure, laid him on the dock for a measurement two pics and back in the water he went. She didn't say a word and started casting again like she had done this a hundred times. After we had finished she asked me to paint up a replica for her in the shop. My pleasure young lady, my plessure.

We have an 11 acre pond behind our shop. The pond was dug 10 years ago when they built the Avenue of the Saints.

Bullheads are a blast to catch. I grew up on in Clear Lake and would ride my bike to the lake after chorres were done to fish bullheads. I would catch them by the pail.

I wish I had a pond somewhere near my house. All I have is traffic.

Great Story and awesome picture...

I cherished those days fishing/hiking etc with my daughter when she was younger and I was her hero.

Now she's almost 19 and barely has any interest in spending time with me.. lol

Only caught one bass? Holy hell. I dont know what I would do. I've been bass fishing since I can remember. Large Mouth's are my fav. Smallies are fun in the rivers with a weightless pearl super fluke.

We catch a bunch of 12"-14" bass but this one was the biggest she caught. My nephew caught a 24" a month ago that is the biggest one so far out of our pond.

Yeah just one, I'm in San Diego so most of my fishing is on the ocean. I've only actually been bass fishing 3-4 times so I have no clue what I'm doing where bass are concerned. They're smarter than me.
