Air Compressor help...

To sum it up I am moving and my new place can no longer support my large air compressor so I am looking to pick up a smaller one to get by with. Sears has a few on sale that I am considering.

Both are oil free and vertical compressors.

One is a 26gal while the other a 33gal. I can get either one for $260 and the 26gal comes with a free hose (whoopie-do).

Now my main question is both appear to have the same motors and have identical CFM ratings. If that is the case is there really any advantage to going with the larger 33gal compressor if the 26gal has the identical cfm rating? I never had to deal with this since my 60gal was more than I ever really needed.

Lastly should I fork out the extra $70 to get the 3 year extended warrenty? In the past it has worked out in my favor with large electronics but I am uncertain if it is really worth it for a $300 compressor.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

The extented warrenty doesn't do you much. The only difference going with the larger tank is it will hold more so it will run less. IF you can get the same compressor but with a bigger tank for the same price grab the bigger tank.

I would get the bigger tank If you run air tools at all you'll wish you got the 33 instead of the 26 the motor will not run as long or often. I hate having to listen to the air compressor wile I'm working on the jeep I run alot of air tools and the noise gets annoying after a while.

i had one of those compressors, i'm pretty sure the 33 gallon, it doesn't support air tools. get the bigger tank, but don't expect it to perform like a 80+gallon system. i hated not having the power on air tools, so at home i have a 2 stage compressor w/ 180 gallons of storage, mantaining 140 psi. (not nearly its max)

those sears compressors say 90 psi, but they don't keep you at 90 for a minute running air tools. 90 is a minumum to get any power out of an air tool
