Almost done . . .

. . . with the remodel of my living areas. Ordered the furniture today. Floor turned out great - especially since this is the first hardwood floor I've put down. Also happy with my first ceramic tile job. Just trim and touch-up paint now.

I'm just guessing here, but possibly he wants to do his own floors too?... The tile looks perfect.

How about you shut the hell up. You can hardly add anything to you own posts. Don't add anything to mine. I won't ever step on someone who steps up to the plate on their own. I have more respect for someone who tries anything on their own.

SPDSNYPR - If you feel up to it I'd like to know how you installed your tile. How did you cut it? What mud? Underlay? Grout? Sealer? I do install tile almost every day of the week. I won't offer suggestions unless you want any.

Kids, kids. Come on, now.

I have stemwall construction, so I have OSB subfloors. I put down hardi-backer with treated screws. I used premix thinset and 1/4 inch spacers. I borrowed a scoring cutter and wet saw from a friend who happens to own them (partner at work). I had little to no luck with the cutter even with a new cutting disc. I broke a lot of tiles. The wet saw was a Godsend. I mixed the grout in a bucket (don't know what kind it was - already threw the bag away). Brushed on the sealer in three coats with at least two hours in between (never can be too sure). Did my kitchen, laundry, and pantry.

Sorry - but only took pics of rooms that were done. Still hanging trim today - so the evil door will not in pics till the trim is finished with paint and hung.

Furniture will be delivered tomorrow, then have to go pick up the TV (60") and entertainment stand that are at the inlaws. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Got this all done in just over 3 weeks from planning to done - and I have never done anything like this - ever. I also didn't take off work - I was just getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night and living on neproxin (Aleve). Will be glad when it's over.

And I plan on never, ever doing hardwood floor again. Was fun, but difficult (I had no idea what I was doing).

I will have to tile both my bathrooms now - the wife said so. But that is a bit down the road. I want to replace some other stuff, and our savings is shot right now. Maybe next year.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Update . . .

Living room before -

After -

Now just working on cleanup and touch-up paint. We made a mess, but I am happy with the results. We overspent a bit, but that was expected.

A bit . . .

Had to kick a door a few weeks ago that was barricaded - not sure if that didn't have something to do with my sore knee.
