Alright, what the hell is going on?

Alright, I had posted a topic on here that got one reply, and it was a smartass remark. So, in an effort to get an answer I could use I turned to another forum, just for ONE ANSWER.

I went to jeepforum.com and tried to set up an account (don't worry, I'm not having an affair with jeepforum.com, it was just supposed to be a one-night stand )

I fill in the required fields and hit the "Complete Registration" button. The screen says, and I QUOTE...

Due to mass abuse we were forced to ban all free e-mail addresses from registering. (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.)
You must use a non-free e-mail address to register.
Don't have a non-free e-mail address? Click here for a solution: Manual Account Creation

So I go to set up my account "manually"...

I click the "Manual Account Creation" button, and the screen says...

The only way to register an account with a free e-mail address is for us to manually set it up.

We charge a fee of $5 to manually setup an account. Use the form below to submit payment using PayPal.

Your account will be setup within 1-3 business days and login information will be sent to the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account.

Excuse me, but WTF?

Would the 6-speed trans from an '04-'06 Rubicon hold up to the abuse of a 318ci V8 from a WJ/ZJ?

Gotta love good ol' JF. I went through the same experience with JF, and am only a member because I am a consultant and have a "non-free" free email address that I am comfortable using to set up an account.

The new six speed transmissions are claimed to be a weaker transmission than the NV3550 in most circles. I don't have any experience with actual failure, but I do know that the word on the street/interweb is that it is a weak transmission. I wouldn't use it, as you can find good deals on NV3550's and TF999/32rh transmissions that have a good reputation for strength. I am no expert, but I am sure that one of our resident experts will chime in soon.

how about nv4500, that was for larger ram pickups anyway, did they put that behind the 318, or did they use it behind bigger motors. i'd go nv4500 either way.

I know that the NV4500 would definatly hold up because of their use in the Rams, but I was curious if I would have to ditch the 6-speed for it, because I don't wanna mangle this Rubicon.

Does New Venture make a 6-speed trans?

I'd like to hear what Scout thinks about this, because he has an LJ, I'm assuming its got the 6-speed, and its not an auto...

they put it behind the 360, so behind a 318 shouldnt be a problem

new venture made a 6 speed- the nv 5600, but they are HEAVY.

personally, if i was going to the trouble of swapping engines and all that (and you plan on wheeling it) id look hard at a slushbox. $.02

318 and nv4500 would be a sweet set up, that'd be my third choice.

that will be my next choice. I was going to do a 318/NV4500 with a YJ, but with my new-found career, the can afford an Unlimited.

I'm 6'5"/310lbs. I need the leg room.

And this jeep will be a highway road-tripper 450 some-odd miles to Canada and 200 miles to the shore. Towing a boat and people, I need the V8 a$$-hauling abilities
