Am I alone?

At any event I attend, or even watch on TV, when my national anthem plays, I can't help but tear up. When they display the flag that represents My Country, I just can't help it. I spent 4 years in the middle of the ocean, and several years in the desert, to protect my ability to speak my mind. How about you?

We had a little girl who used to sing the National Anthem before our belt tests. She was the tiniest little thing but had a huge voice. I mist up each and every time I hear it.

Yup, Taps gets me also. When I go to work in the morning, I see my flag, at the peak of my house, with the morning sun catching the Colors...dang!

The one that always got me was taps on the bagpipes.....One police officer funeral too many.....The anthekm frustrates me because of the dirtbags that don't get it.. The freedoms they have because of the brave souls who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us...

I find very few understand it till they have been there. The first time it hit me was when I graduated from seer school after spending 2 weeks in a POW camp run by ROK's back before the 'touchy feelie days'. At that point I started to understand. My understanding only got deeper as my time in service increased after spending time in various crap holes though out the world. It's one of the reasons I would have no hesitation defending my country from both enemies without and as things are going in DC, from WITHIN.

Absolutely gets me every time. Just last night when they played it after Luikin and Johnson won Gold/Silver in Gymnastics I could've have been prouder hearing the national anthem being blasted out to like a hundred million people around the world. This is the greatest country in the history of man kind and I grow more proud of it everyday.

I'm sure you know where I stand!

I can't go to a Rodeo, Basketball or Baseball game without getting emotional during the National Anthem.

what bugs me the most is people that don't feel that way, and then i think about barack hussein obabama that didn't even put his hand on his chest during the national anthem, what a schmuck. hope he leads our country

Oh yea...get's me all the time. IMO - I think the events of 9-11 has benefitted us in this regard. The ceremony has a deeper meaning for us now. Before, it was more national or ceremonial. Now, it's more personal. It's a good thing.

Speaking of 9/11, I know I'm not alone in remembering exactly where I was and what I was doing when I found out, just like I remember where I was when the Space Shuttles both exploded.

Isn't it amazing that those tragic events burn trivial things into your mind? Any other day I would have never remembered, but those days are etched in stone. My mother says the same thing about the Kennedy assassination.

I am not in the military, and I still can't keep myself from getting teary eyed, or at least having my hair stand up. Litterally, you can see the hair on the top of my hair stand up... kind of weird actually.
