No, my hospital decided to buy a smaller hospital 25 miles up the road......guess where our Christmas bonus went.

We still had a gainsharing(that's what our bonus was called) dinner

Been at a Fortune 50 company for 14 years now. Never had a Christmas bonus. They claimed is was catering to Christians.

I get a bonus in April though.

For us, bonus is actually two words.

We get annual performance bonuses.

It started at quarterly, then Semi annual, and now is annual. Doesn't really matter is the rules are so confusing we have no idea how the math works.

We usually just getting nothing and can never figure out why.

You did better than me. I work for a company with probably $50 billion in assets. This Christmas I received a couple of tins of gourmet nuts from my boss.

We're supposed to have a belated Christmas dinner in early January, sponsored by the company, but that hasn't happened yet.

Soo many out work at this time of the year, do layoff's, downing sizing, or businesses closing. And you clowns are worried about bonuses. At least be thankful you have a JOB.

The guys who cry about bonuses are the one that don't deserve squat... At least where I work

It helps but I don't expect it ... Or cry !!

I get about a $90,000 a year bonus and my wife gets about a $60,000 a year bonus.....it is however paid over 26 payments a year. I am working today in fact earning that yearly bonus.

back in the late 70's I worked at a large paper mill and people were used to getting something special at Christmas usually a TV or VCR or something like that. One year we all got a box of hard candy and everybody was bitching and in protest most of my crew threw their boxes of candy in a dumpster outside the personnel office. About half way through the shift I proclaimed to several of the people that were in a control room "hey kind of cool how the company put that $500 check in the box of candy" the place cleared out as people were racing to the dumpster. I nearly got may ass beat when they found out I was just kidding. 35 years later some of the guys that are still around and I run into from time to time still remind me that I am lucky I did get beat up over it.

No bonus, but I do get to work tonight!

Hope you got a good ham. My family enjoyed ours, but it wasn't a bonus or gift.

Merry Christmas!

Id like to think the same. I work for a small aerospace overhaul and repair company. The boss and the owner is the management. We somehow made more money this year than ever before,
The owner, he decided he wanted a 2nd shift. Hired 3 of this biggest losers. 2 of them do not do a damn thing all night. One of these guys happens to work under me.
We complain and we are the bad guy. It's crazy. 2nd shift -has not done a damn thing to make this company any money. 20 returns this year ... Any other company the doors would be closed. It's embarrassing . A good amount of my work is rework. Reworking failures from these incompetent people.
I already had a discussion with my boss. Having a guy take over for you when I'm doing all the setups, reworking all the garbage. Basically doing 90% of the work and only making $1-$2 more than him.
His excuse "we can't find good people" my response "you have a good person ... Me, and we don't need this clown" "I can handle the area myself and you know this"
Of coarse nothing wAs done. He did want to make sure I wasn't going anywhere.

These people sit on unemployment for years and don't want to work. Get a job somehow and seems their goal is to go back on unemployment

Btw - These are the people that would bring up the bonus , mind you. We don't know if we are getting one until a weak before Christmas. Funny watching them work for 1 week

Time to resurrect the resume

/ rant

always a good thing to church up the resume.... just like workers, employers become complacent, fail to recognize the marginal performers - provide a plan to bring them to an acceptable level - or else... and because of that, and the market, good employees will either bite the bullet because of time on the job, lack of other well paying positions, fear of the unknown, and their own complacency.

moral of the story. update and look. updating and looking are not disloyal or dishonest. they're looking out for your best interests. which too few employers do these days.

No bonus here for Christmas per se. We do sometimes get a smaller bonus in the Spring based on how we do related to EBITDA. Sometimes we get one, and sometimes we don't. I plan on getting no bonus and if I do, I just put it in savings and forget about it. I'm in IT, so someday a guy from India or China or Eastern Europe will replace me. I don't complain too much as there are plenty of American IT folks not working right now. I could easily become one if Accenture or some other foreign consulting company makes the numbers look good enough to the right "just passing through" tenured CEO looking for a "bonus".

I work my main job in the public schools. No monetary bonus, but I do get to work with mostly appreciative kids and families. I also get 2 weeks off with my kid!

I'll never see a bonus as I will continue to work in food & beverage.

Although the owner of the restaurant I run did buy me a spiderweb shade because I'd mentioned using it as a back window during winter.

Well, we got a bonus, nice little check... but then the owner gave us a couple extra days off (without pay of course) which amounted to more of a loss than the bonus given... so really, I DIDN'T get a bonus, but lost money. He gave us the option to use our left over vacation pay on those days - guess what, it's the end of the year, vacation days are used up! He just doesn't get it.
Yep, my resume is updated and I am looking....

Instead of being thankful for having a job they should be angry that CEO's at many companies earn 100's to even 1000 times the salary of workers; be angry that Congress has done nothing to create jobs and even has hurt jobs; be angry at the policies that favor the wealthiest while hurting the middle class.

I'm sorry, but this attitude of being thankful for being screwed over doesn't sit well with me (and I'm a retired CEO who cared about his fellow employees who helped make the company a success). Let's finally stop complaining about a do-nothing Congress and start electing people who want to create rather than tear down, who will represent the interests of the people instead of the special interests.

Agree 1000% with Lbear.

The problem is NOT with those of us who work weekends, swing shifts, holidays, and overtime out the ying-yang for companies who make millions and even mult- Billions of dollars a year in profits.

We deserve more, because regardless of what many think, at least where I work:

I helped build this company into what it is today over the last 24 years, so I deserve a little more. If you think we are "lucky" just to have a job, I say bullshit.
