American Top Gear

Ok so i love the show Top Gear from the uk. its on BBC America on Monday night (at least in ohio it is) anyway they now have the American Top Gear. It is the worst show ever!!

I know most of you guys and girls are car lovers so i wanted to see if you thought the same way i did about it.

That's true, but how many spin offs are better than the original?

Honestly I thought it was ok. I am a huge fan of the UK version. And to hold the american version to the same standard as the UK version isn't fair. Granted its baised on the UK version, but its a whole new set of hosts. I think we need some time to let them meld together and get to know them.

I dident care for the shakey in car camera they had in the viper and the lambos.

I like em' both, but the UK one is a lot better. I think I just like it for the british accents

I also like seeing some british cars/european. I see the cars from the US every day I drive. Nice seeing some variety of cars.

oh and you can keep the uk top gear theme but you dont have to copy and paste the whole show. like the stig, they couldnt have found some other way to do the power lap driver? ijust hope that in the end it does not take the uk top gear off the air at some point b/c the American top gear failed.

The American versions focus is on the challenges, it is purely for entertainment.
The UK's version focuses first on the cars, and then on the challenges.
While many people (non-car people) would like the American version more, I am a car guy and prefer to watch a show based around the cars.

NCIS spun off from JAG
Tonight Show spun off from Broadway Open House
Practice spun Boston Legal

Cheers>Fraiser which is best is a toss up.

Then there is the whole Love American Style thing which spun Happy Days which spun Laverne and Shirley which spun Mork and Mindy.

I know, too much time with the TV on in the background when I am suppose to be working.

I could not believe how bad the us version is. Sooo boring. The uk guys totally make the show. I think the us show needs at least one older guy to balance it out.

I think the main difference is that the three BBC presenters have broad literate careers.

Between them they have written over 30 books, appeared in dozens of programs and write weekly columns for the major newspapers and magazines of Britain. That breadth of experience allows a much more professional and casual conversation. They make it look easy because, for them it is.
