%@$#&! Cat

Well the cold weather is approaching and our outside cat is no longer sleeping in the yard but has moved to my Jeep. Lazy thing has pooped and urinated on the carpet. As much as i would like to stomp its face into the cold earth the cat is my youngest daughters, Besides i love animals. Well i believe i can rip the carpet out which i was thinking of doing that anyway and spray on some liner stuff or purchase one of those partial covers. I keep my soft top off till about Nov.1. Another thing i could do is chop the cats legs off and set him on the trash can in front of his food and water. But once again i love animals. Anyway.....just thought i would share this. Anybody else have this problem?

I love animals but cats and their habits do not go well with a jeep. My brothers soft top has been shredded by his cats sleeping on it and doing their claws. You have to draw line somewhere.

Cover everything in aluminum foil at night. It freaks them out.

I said screw carpet. I put Hurculiner down and I love. If I were to get cat pee in my Jeep I'd spray the heck outta the cat and then use the same tactics on my Jeep. Only I'd also use soap on the Jeep. And not having carpet also takes care of rouge rain storms and mother nature when shes on that time of the month.

Mine is lined too, but that doesn't keep the cats from peeing on the seats....

Sadly thats true. I have heard many good things about your seat covers though (insert shameless plug here). They are waterproof, cat proof, and I assume mud proof right? They will probably be an investment to make one day (broke college kid right now though). I'd really like to put seats that sit a little lower and are more comfortable though. I'm 6'5" and I look at stoplights over the windshield instead of through it.

Back in the late 80's I was living on the farm and kept my CJ-5 parked in the barn, and the barn cat had her new litter in the pasenger seat.

You can go this route...

I know this older man who is "oldschool" and doesn't take crap from nobody. Well he had been parking his truck outside for a while, and had been noticing a cat was pissing all over his truck and in his truck bed. He finds out that cats hate human piss. So he goes out there one night when no one was around and pissed all over his truck. Hey, it worked!

Thanks for the plug, but mine aren't waterproof... That's why I use my Trail Cover when she's parked outside topless...

Edit: Check to see if you have seat risers installed. Hubby's 6'4" and has few problems wit my '01... tho the seats did get lowered in '03 I think.

i'll start by saying i love animals. we own a house cat, a dog and a chinchilla. we'd have more if my wife had her way, but 3 is enough for now. but there is a line that needs to be drawn. we live in the sticks, so there are a lot of wild critters around.

there are now so many feral cats around, due to the irresponsibility of pet owners that the numbers need to be thinned out. when my wife left for work at 6:15 am last spring to find half a rabbit in the front yard, we decided it was time to thin the herd. let me tell you how a hysterical wife sounds when she's screaming about the dead half-rabbit while you're still waking up. and it's just what you want to clean up first thing in the morning on your way out the door.
now, if there is a cat in the yard, it gets one warning shot. next time it ventures across, it's getting whacked. when this nonsense starts costing you money, oh you better believe it's getting put to bed in a hurry. it might sound harsh, but i like the rabbits, squirrels, groundhogs, birds and all the other stuff a whole lot more than the cats that don't belong there in the first place.

so for the love of god, at least spay/neuter the cat if it's not already. apart from that, keep it inside, problem solved.

Live traps might be a better option if you're an animal lover. Just my $.02

You never know when a neighbor's pet will unknowingly enter your yard. Kill someone's pet and your own life may be at risk.

I have two indoor/outdoor cats.
We have enough property that they do NOT have a litter box in the house - unless we leave them inside for a weekend while we are away.

If my Jeep is going to be left topless or door-less overnight I either lock it up in the shop or flip the top up and just Velcro the windows on it. I'm not naive enough to believe that they would resist the temptation to get up there to sleep if they were out at night, nor do I trust the other cats and critters in the area.

Don't be TOO quick to blame your own kitty for the poo & pee in your Jeep. It could be a neighborhood cat trying to mark your kitty's territory.

One thing I have found that works amazingly to deter my cats and train them from getting on beds and furniture, even keeps them out of my potted plants is 2" wide, clear packing tape. Wrap a couple of strips of it upside down across your seat and then make some 6" strips and place them randomly about the inside of the tub with the adhesive side up. They hate it, absolutely hate it. Especially the first time they have to figure out how to get it out of their fur. No, it isn't nice, but it teaches them that it's a bad place to go and it's worked for me so far.

K.

we've thought about that, but it doesn't stop them from coming back. this is not an occasional nuisance, it's multiple cats, every day. i mean it's bad, i'm not the only neighbor complaining about it.
the guy down the street rounded a bunch of them up, took them to the vet, had them spayed/neutered and just released them back into the neighborhood.

i understand you're point, but if someone is letting their pet roam freely around the neighborhood, which is about 1/4 mile from I-95 and directly adjacent to a major country road, they can't care all that much. this is why they get a warning shot. if the cat just got out on accident, it's one thing. it's literally cats that we see on an almost daily basis. we for the most part know if a cat is feral or someone's pet, so we take it easy on the ones we know have a home. i don't want to start trouble with anyone, but i seriously doubt a cat owner will be willing to pay for a shredded top on my jeep or on the 59 corvette that sits in the back garage and that's IF i know which cat did it and who owns it.

again, i really do love animals and doing this is the lesser of two evils. i don't feel good about it, but the wildlife belongs there, the cats do not. there is no reason to let your housecat roam freely and it's a bad idea if you have kids, you never know what the cat can pick up and bring home with it.

You all had better check under the hood as well so you don't end up with a dead one like one of the members posted up in here. That would be ugly in a few days if not found.

my mom did that to our cat when I was a kid. cranked the car..heard a screech, saw black fur and a horrible smell..freaked us all out. had to call a mechanic to get it out of the belts and what not...I do not like outside cats, if you have a cat keep it inside. you dont see people letting their dogs just roam at will..they have to be fenced or tied up. just saying. I hate kitty prints on my jeep and the occational smell of cat pee.

I could not agree more.^^^^^^Why is it that cats can roam around but dogs can't? You have to buy a license for dogs but not cats. And yes, I hate cat piss!!

The local PD just took 28 feral cats away last year that I complained to them about. I sent pictures to them of 21 cats in 1 pic in my neighbors driveway(she fed them because she felt bad for them) and explained to them that I was sick of it. Cat crap everywhere, multiple sets of kittens every year.

I changed the oil on a van once that had a cat stuck up in the suspension. Pretty gross.
