Child, How many times you going to join with a different name? No one here is impressed with you or your silly Land Rover. Give it up.

Actually, that's not entirely correct. Jeep, Toyota, and Land Rover were under Military contract to build a specific type vehicle for the military. The Military had their own goals and spec's to follow. All three vehicles were based in the Willys Over-land Jeep. So yes, I guess you could say the first Land Rover was built on a Jeep frame, but it was not the choice of Starley and Sutton - or The Rover Company, for that matter.

to watch about the Land Rover. Basically sums up it's start.

All right, I have no problem with a discussion of how Jeeps are better than Land Rovers. However if you come on to our board and make a comment like MikeO made for your very first post then you will get banned. This board is not Pirate and it's not JU. We don't tolerate out and out disrespect to any of our users.

I'm going to let the thread stay open now, but if you don't keep the conversation civil (Competitive is pefectly fine) I will close it.

Oh, and I'll throw my dog in this fight.

Mainly due to the Ford buy out. In no way, shape, or form is todays Land Rover what it was in the past. That's like compairing a Cherokee Limited to a Rubicon - two different animals. Hell, you could not give me a Rover made after 1999 for receration use.

Boy ain't that the truth. Buddy of mine has an 02 Discovery VI I believe. That thing is just one heavy pig and no way in hell would I want to put it into one of our AZ trails. Well that's unless I was just being mean.

I find this comment BS. $6k?? Hmmmm, yeah, right. I can't help what the kid told you, but they did not put 6k into a motor. Even at Stealership rates, a complete overhaul is less than that.

....well, unless it was a Freelander. That thing is about as worthless as a Liberty.

Rovers dont have problems if you take care of them. The rookies have problems.

P.S. We have Leather, Dual sunroofs, Front and rear AC.

Dont get me wrong I love Jeeps they taste like chicken. They are very capable wheelers. I thought I would just post this because All I hear from my jeep buddies is that they have more front flex then any other street legal wheeler. Sorry wrong answer! With 14in travel fox shocks in the front and 12in in the rear you can only dream of the Flex!

DChapman, My comments were made in regards to the other post I have quoted above. He was talkinga bout a Rover with 35's, 14's in the front and 12's in the rear. I just thought I'd throw a pic up for him to show how much flex you really can get with coilovers. Not pickin fights. We don't pick fights on WranglerForum. It's all in good fun.

$6,300 to be exact and it still wasn't fixed. It took another trip to the dealership to fix the Discovery in order for him (40 years old) to get any value out of the trade.

I guess there are horror stories on all makes and models, but this is by far the most exaggerated I've ever heard. I, for one, would have been on the horn with Land Rover North America a long time ago.

I'm guessing it was a 2003?

Yes and he didn't get the extended warranty so it was totally out of pocket. Driving home one night the engine light came on (he was told because of the thermostat), he pulled over but decided to drive the 3 miles to his house at a very slow speed and subsequently damaged the engine. They said $6,300 was a bargain, if more damage had been done, it would have cost in excess of $10k. This happened 2 weeks ago. He picked up the new car last weekend.

You LR guys are funny. You've been a little disgruntled lately and feel a need to justify your purchase so you troll a Jeep forum to make yourselves feel better.

I'm actually a big fan of rovers but there really is no comparison between a disco and a SWB Jeep. Now the d90's and d110's that's a different story - thems bitchen! A better comparison for the disco would be the ZJ or WJ - maybe you should be doing this at Mallcrawlin.com. However, a ZJ or WJ will speed up when you press the skinny pedal .

BTW, you really should fire your builder: with 14/12 CO's and 3-links, you should get much better flex than that.

Happy Jeepin. Go away Daniel.
