Anybody into Home Theater?

Wondering how many others have home theater setups?

Finished adding a Bic Acoustech H-100 Subwoofer to our home theater setup a while back and wow, what an amazing addition. The most amazing bass I've found so far is in the movie Nemo, when the little girl taps on the aquarium glass

Very fun

Snell makes fantastic speakers. I am more of a hi-fi person, and a Vandersteen lover. I have never heard a multi-speaker set up that sounds better than a stereo set up that is well positioned and driven by a good amp. People do not know what stereo imaging can do or how large of a soundstage can be created by good stereo.

I just jumped into the budget home theater scene a few months back. I went with an Epson HC6100 projector, Carada 126" Brilliant White fixed frame screen, Yamha 663 receiver, Sony PS3 for BluRay and DVD and a Wii. So far I've been really happy with everything. One of these days I'll talk myself into getting the real high end stuff but for now this will do.

My roomates and I have a hi-def projector attached to a bose wave radio that shines across the alley on our neighbors wall. We watch this from the roof. Great for Phillies games, but only works at night.

Just have a 46inch 1080p, I'm fine with that just for now. Would like to upgrade to a 5.1 sometime in the future tho.

I am an electronics mega-geek... just don't have the job to support the needs. My 1080p 32" tv and cheap 1000w surround sound do me just well with the PS3 hooked up for now.

One thing about hi-fi is that quality pieces don’t always cost an arm and a leg and they last a really long time if you maintain them. I bought my basic system in '93 and although I have to get new tubes periodically everything is still great. I even added a turntable. I spent what you might rave payed for a rack system at the time and got a nice Class A integrated valve amp, a Rotel CD player and a set of Vandersteen 1Bs. It all still sounds great.

Oh, and check out the Oppo DVD players. Their least expensive unit also is a very capable music source and they are American made.

To me, the theater experience is about 60% equipment and 40% environment. I've got my enviornment and audio the way I want it... I'm just waiting until I have the funds for a better TV.

The outside wall has Scarface, The Godfather, and Bullitt movie theater posters on the outside.

There is also a chat function I believe and some other cool stuff. Haven't used it yet but can't say I wont.

Thanks. BTW the Devils will always be the Colorado Rockies and the Kansas City Scouts before that. Rangers are original 6.

I hear ya. You could always jump on the DLP bandwagon. You can still buy a lot of TV for 1/3 of the price of Plasma or LCD. I'm on my second DLP and love the picture, especially for watching sports.
