Any Mathematicians out there?

I know there are a ton of very intelligent Jeepers here, so I hope someone can help me. I am building a sloped roof canopy and need an angle. I need what angle to cut/miter the tops of my posts. I plan to do a 1.5' slope over an 11.5' length. Very much appreciated

You'll need to find your slope percent first. Take your intended rise (or more accurately, your drop) of 1.5' and convert it to a percentage of your run. In this case it's 1.5/11.5 for a slope percentage of 13%.
Now plug it into this simple trigonometric formula:
Degrees = Tan-1(Slope Percent/100)
Mathematically, that formula now looks like this:
Tan-1(.13)
Answer is 7.41 degrees.
Hope this helps.

Same Answer

Presented in a interesting matter, but the math seems sound. I also got the same answer of 7.4 degrees, as seen in the picture:

You don't need to figure the angle. Use a carpenters square, use the scale on the bottom for the 11.5 and the side scale at 1.5 and you have the correct angle.

In the absence of a carpenter's square, plane trigonometry comes in handy.

Yeah, I do not have a carpenter's square thanks for the suggestion to get one though, now on my list.
