Hah - I don't smoke pot but I voted to make it legal. We got a new Governor too - the last one vetoed legalization because it's still a federal crime. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Legalization passed. however there is going to be several months to years of red tape to set up a system. By that time it will probably be voted down due to cost of regulation.

It is still illegal under Federal law and with the pre-emption clause of the U.S. Constitution, anyone selling it is going to get raided by the DEA and charged in Federal Court.

The feds have made "legalized" selling a major inconvenience in California. They've raided the outlets, threatened landlords, audited employees, and just been a real pain in the rectal area about it.

A friend who happens to be a landlord was sitting in a coffee shop in L.A. and some guy in a suit sat down at his table and flashed a badge for a second, too fast for him to read it, and then proceeded to tell him how the "federal government is going to ruin his life if he didn't cancel the lease on the new medical marijuana store" he had just signed a lease on. He had just rented the space out after it was empty for over 2 years and he decided to cancel the lease but allow them to stay on a month to month basis. Technically he complied to the suit's orders, but he's sweating every time he sees someone in a suit come into his office.
