Are these my people?

So I've been lurking for a few days...taking a look around...trying to get a feel for the tone of this site...trying to decide if these are my people. Based on some of the threads I've read, I'm getting a good vibe...maybe this is my demographic...here's how I roll...you tell me...Army veteran...gun enthusiast...engineer on a defense program...amateur machinist and welder...conservative...motorcycle addict...ATV junkie...resident of a rural area...fervent patriot...family guy...gearhead...wise ass...Boy Scout

So what are you thinking...do I sound like the folks you hang out with? Are you my people?

Sounds like you'll fit in just fine bud.

But remember the limits on being a smart ace. This is a family forum.

Welcome to the forum. Pull up a chair and sit awhile.

I suppose it depends on what the Panda is pushing...if it's crystal meth...I'm against it...however, if the Panda is just pushing Amway products...or maybe one of those mobility scooters for the old folks...I guess I'm OK with it...a Panda's got to make a living

if you hang around long enough, eventually you develop a stance on the issue.

Embrace the pushing of pandas, those freaky raccoon-bear things.

I think I've been a Jeep guy since that fateful day when I was 12 years old and on a Boy Scout campout. One of the older kids showed up in a Scrambler with no roof and no doors. He took us out ripping though the woods and fields...mud flying...branches scraping down the side...the occasional wild forest beastie running for its life. I probably wore that grin on my face for a year after...hell, it's still clear as day 25 years later. I knew then and there I would have a Jeep. When I was 16, my mother bought herself a CJ7...it wasn't an hour into ownership before I had the doors and roof off of it and we were hitting the local trails. Joined the Army in 91 and bought my first new vehicle...a 92 YJ 4.0-5spd-hard top...stationed in Colorado...I put 10,000 miles on it in 4 months...wheeled every dotted line I could find on the map...and the hard top never left the parking lot of the barracks. Unfortunately, the payment and insurance were more than I made...I had to give it up. My next Jeep was an 01 TJ - 4.0 -5spd - and I loved it. Unfortunately, my new wife hated it...not exactly car seat friendly. So I ended up doing the family guy thing for a few years with big double cab pick ups and SUVs...but I just bought an 03 TJ-4.0-5spd - soft top - 53K miles (detect a trend?) and now I'm back in business. I haven't even picked it up yet...waiting for my check to clear. But rest assured...come Spring...my kids will be wearing that big s%$t-eating grin that you get when you're rolling down the trails with no roof, no doors, and no DVD players

Yes...I tend to ramble

I noticed in your initial post, you said you were a wise ass. You're automatically part of our family if that's the case!! Welcome to our cyber-family. And what are you riding? I've got an R1. Love it. Have had it since it was new in '02 and have sunk WAY too much money in the thing getting it track-ready. Would like to see some pics of yours, if you want to post some up....

I dig the quotes. There's a 2 wheeled thread around here somewhere where I posted a couple poser shots of my bikes. I put away my Vansons and gave up fast bikes when I had kids but I'm still a complete bike addict...I just ride less sporty machines these days. My main scoot is a BMW GS.
