Aston Martin suicide

Quote:
In a grim attempt at revenge against his estranged wife, a British businessman committed suicide by decapitation in his Aston Martin sports car, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported Friday.

According to the Mail, Gerald Mellin, 54, had been consumed with dark thoughts surrounding his 34-year-old wife's decision to leave him.

The day before his death, a court had granted Mirielle Mellin additional alimony, the Mail reported.

Following the decision, in the last contact with his wife, Mellin sent a text message reading, "Congratulations, XXX."

The businessman then reportedly tied one end of a rope he kept in his Aston Martin convertible to a tree and wrapped the other end of it around his neck as he sat in the driver's seat. He then drove the car at a high speed onto a busy road, forcing other drivers to witness his violent suicide, the Mail said.

Phillip Rogers, the coroner assigned to the case, ruled the cause of death as decapitation.

"I'm satisfied this was a deliberate attempt by Mr. Mellin to kill himself."
New info from The Sun elevates this guy to hero status.

Quote:
But they split in 2007 and Mirrielle continued living in their luxury farmhouse in the village of Crumlin, South Wales.

She said: “Our marriage was horrendous. He wanted me to walk away from the farmhouse and the business with nothing.”

After Mr Mellin’s death near Swansea’s seafront, Mirrielle found that he had cancelled a life insurance policy.

She added: “He ran up an extortionate amount of debt. I’ve got to sell the farmhouse.”

Yea, but what happened to the aston martin ? those are sweet rides. Granted, women should be allowed to drive them, there was this honey that would drive by my office building every day in Manhattan, 111 Broadway, Trinity building, at around 06:45 and hit the same raised manhole cover, throwing sparks from underneath, except fridays when her husband drove, he'd go around it... this went on for over 6 months. A bunch of us would be there getting coffee from the carts, ever see 30+ guys, from cops to stock brokers, flinch and groan at the same time.
