AVG Free

Anybody run AVG Free or heard of it? I've been reading on some forums people who use it and love it and it's a free download.

I've used it for a few years now with no problems. As a matter of fact, my laptop hasn't crashed so I'm able to type this reply to your thread. Thanks AVG Free.

I have been running it about 2 years and I have had no problems. It was recommended by an IT guy that uses it on his home computers. I had just ran my scan on my old service. Deleted that service and uploaded AVG. Ran another scan and was really surprised at how much stuff was missed by the "major brand software".

From the IT world AVG Free is good! Trend Micro is a little more powerful, but only has a 30 day trial. Trend Micro actually removed a major virus from one of our servers when Norton ($65 a user x 65 users) couldn't

Ran it on a few machines when I was admin for an internet cafe, believe me, if it can hold up under the abuse in that environment it's brilliant.
I still run it on Amy's computer.

Yep AVG is good stuff, I've been using it for years. The one to avoid, at least in my opinion, is Norton. Norton used to be good but in recent years, it became such a resource and memory hog that it became the product to hate. I ran it for five-plus years and each year it caused my system to get slower and slower until I finally dumped it.

I've used to use AVG.
Good software.
Kept me clean.

I've used Norton for that past 4 years now.
No problems with it either.
I personally like Norton better because you have more control.
But then again, you also pay for that control.
Except for me, found a hole to where I can renew it each year without $$.

Wonder why it was slowing your system down Jerry.
Never had that problem with mine.
