back problems

so.. 6th grade i was injured and damaged my tailbone, freshman year my sis totaled a jeep with my in the back seat without a seatbelt, dislocating my shoulder, breaking my collar bone and shoulder blade..

well ive been out of highschool for 3 years now.. and ever since 6th grade ive complained to my parents about my back pains.. dad always said "its because you dont work out enough" i played baseball on the varsity team and travel teams and worked out almost EVERY day.. so i knew this wasnt the problem..

i talked to my doctor a few times about it and he said it was nothing and has never given it a second look, even when i complain about it, said its how i sit or my bed at home, he told me i needed to exercise more.. (i was constantly playing sports and still to this day am VERY active, heck ive worked construction since ive graduated.. its not like ive been sitting in bed for the last 3 years)

well finally today i could barely get outta bed.. keep in mind im not even 21 (i turn it in april) well i go to a different doc.. come to find out, my very bottom disc was dislocated this WHOLE time.. he had the chiropractor pop my back, as soon as the guy touched my back he said it grossed him out.. finally after about 20 minutes of struggling the guy pops my disc back in place.. at first i couldnt even move my legs, and now my back is SOAR.. but its still not the pain that i have been feeling for the last 9 years..

funny thing is.. dad still doesnt believe that anything was ever wrong with my back..

i gotta go back in 3 days to get some x-rays.. im hoping for some good news =/ i dont want back surgery at this age

So sorry to hear, especially at such a young age. Anytime you get manipulated, you'll probably be sore for a week or so (sorry). Ask the Chiropractor about spinal decompression - helped me tremendously (i.e. pain free, for the first time in over 20 years) untill I reinjured myself. I need to go back.

getting a second opinion at the start is always the best can save your life! haha yeah my doc told me i had indigestion cause my stomach hurt BAD. well three days later i found out after my little trip to the O.R. that my appendix had been ruptured for 4 days...3 months later i am all fine.. sorry about your back and jsut remember that you shouldn't shrug off some shit. hope all goes well.

you know when they do back surgery they go through the front right!....ahahahah

Quite often the dislocated disk is the symptom and not the real problem. Only and MRI can see if you actually have a herniated disk or a disk that has degenerated and wore away due to the original injury. X-rays only show bones and can't see if you have a disk problem. After a car wreck at age 21 I had similar problems and lived with it for 15 years. Chiropractors helped, but couldn't solve the problem. Finally, I had back surgery. The recovery was tough, but I wish I had done the surgery 15 years ago. Go see an orthopedic surgon who specializes in backs and get an MRI.
