Bacon Wins Again!

Last night was our annual neighborhood Christmas party. Part of the festivities includes a food competition, where everyone is asked to bring their best dish. Everyone at the party samples the various offerings and then votes. Well, for the last ten years a rivalry has built up between me and another guy on the block. One of us has taken the win every year. This year, the guy has been taunting me. He has sent me e-mails telling me how he is going to trample all over me this year. At Halloween, he told me how he has been planning all year for this.

He made a BBQ chicken pizza with homemade BBQ sauce, goat cheese, and several "secret" ingredients. He has made it a dozen times over the past year, perfecting the recipe. (I have to admit, it was pretty good.)

My entry this year: 'Lil Smokies wrapped in Bacon! I found the recipe on the interweb on Friday and thought, "How could I go wrong?" It was very simple: you take a 'Lil Smokie sausage, wrap it with 1/3 of a slice of bacon, and stick a toothpick in it. Put them on a cookie sheet, sprinkle them generously with brown sugar, and put them in a 325 degree oven for 45 minutes (until the sugar melts). I made a double batch and they were all gone halfway through the party.

The other guy said that he couldn't understand how I won.

Mmmmmm Bacon! Always a winner!

Sweet! Who puts goat cheese on a pizza? His fancy dancy prowess was beatin' out by simplicity! Less is always better!

Good job Bacon!!!

no, bacon is always better! maybe if he would have used bacon instead of goat cheese the pizza would have been better.

Next year might be rough. If your rival learned anything it is to make a bacon pizza.

i saw something on food network with bacon... was weird at thought but everyone that ate it wanted more...

A guy fried up some bacon... and then poured melted chocolate over them and did a light sprinkle of crushed almonds ... was a HUGE hit
